Data storage advice..
«
on:
December 03, 2008, 09:09:42 PM »
My laptop has become rather clogged and could do with freeing up some space, most of my memory has been taken up by a shed load of music and pictures and was wondering what the best ways to remove and store them were?
Also if i remove tracks from my computer how will that effect my itunes as i have it all imported on there for my ipod?
Thanks
Jim

Do you have a DVD writer Jim? This is a good way. Disks are about 50p each and hold normally 4.7GB each. You could also try a USB storage stick, these are very cheap now.
Can't answer the second part, sorry, I download music illegally on to a non proprietary mp3 player, so have no such hassles

DVDs are good for backup storage - but if you're wanting to constantly move files to and from your laptop, then maybe an external hard drive is a good idea?

Even Aldi are selling one:

They are cheap and piss easy mate, just plug into your comp using a USB and just drag the files from your C: Drive to the External Drive!
Done!

External Hard drive and I think you can set up the itunes software to recognise the device.

I'm trying to see how long I can look at Scottish Dave's avatar for before it drives me nuts, currently about 30 seconds.
