Not being a parent, I don't have an opinion on this, but what age would you teach/allow your children to be taught the rules of poker to play it in the house?  Or would you not do this?  In America I believe it's very common for families to play poker on the kitchen table, but less so over here.

Thoughts?

Jake knows how to play already. (He's 5)

A few months ago I tried to explain what bluffing was.

The next day he said his mum "Bluffing is giving away your chips for no reason".

He's a quick learner.

As long as it not Gala Nottingham...
how random....i learnt to play there pretty sure it didnt bother my dad, also my brother works there pretty sure my mum is just glad he has job!!!

im not overly fussed one way or the other if my kids end up playing poker, its not something i would sit down and make them learn though.

Hardly random Fran unless we have a different  understanding of the word.

I'm highlighting one specific casino which has had a reputation for hosting the most corrupt and untrustworthy card-room in the UK over the last decade as the one which I would least like my kids to start to play poker in.

Now what's wrong or random about that?

If we did not have DTD we would all still be playing at Gala Nottingham.

Then again if we didn't have Gala Nottingham we would never have got DTD!

I think.

I personally stopped playing at Gala Nottingham two or three years before DTD opened.

I would start them off on other games like Chess and when they're older perhaps Magic the Gathering.

By the age they can give me a good game at chess, i'll start with the poker for chores concept.  See how that fares.
