Evening all was thinking through some ideas tonight re a little poker project that i was going to open up to the blonde world for help support and information!

Firstly the idea,

To develop an excel document which provides a one stop shop for poker tournament information!

Basically this document will have a front page were you can input:-

Which sites you play on
What time you want to start playing/Time you have got to play in
What buy in level you want to range between
How many tournaments at once
what is the maximum amount of buy ins available.. etc etc

Behind the scenes the spreadsheet would hold information on tournaments from all different sites, including buy in field size guarantees average length and hopefully some sort of ranking system for the tournaments.

At the start of the afternoon you can put in the information regarding your schedule and the spreadsheet would recommend the best tournaments for yourself. I believe this would be most beneficial for people who are requesting staking and i will be using recommendations from the staking board to help with the ranking system. It would be user friendly and the more you use it the more it would grow for example it may point out to you that the hyper turbo at 11pm may be fun but a big loser for yourself and therefore would start to rank the tournament below others and would not recommend it as highly for yourself

How am i going to do this?

A little about me i am a maths student and am currently on placement at Experian in Nottingham. I hope to use my coding skills along with poker enthusiasm to help build this. I use spreadsheets day in day out and love to experiment with them

Why am i going to do this?

Basically a little bit of fun, and to help me to develop skills that will hopefully pay me good money in the future also i believe that with use of information like this i may be able to improve my own results by picking out the right tournaments. I have not started working on this yet and i plan to start over the next few weeks it is going to take me a little while but once i get going i should be able to produce a "beta" model that will be a basic outline and will work in a very simple way and then develop this further as i go!!

I plan to use this board for questions and posting updates!!

If someone knows of something similar to this let me know ill take a look and see if i can use it to help me build my model!!

Thanks for reading!

I think this is a cool idea. I like the idea of entering that info and getting a list of tournaments back, don't forget to add stuff like full ring or six max, turbo's/hypers etc.

Not sure I'd want it recommending what to play, I mean it couldn't hurt but I can use programs like HEM to analyse this

Might be tricky to keep it up to date with all schedules across all major sites though.... how do you plan to do that?

thumbs up for the idea

its a good idea.

anyone being active at doing anything in life gets a thumbs up from me.

only thing is....

i think anyone that would use this would be a player that puts in a lot of volume and would be familiar with the schedule they play??

cant hurt though! its going to be more helpful then if it wasnt there!

I agree it will be tough to keep up to date! I have looked around and sites seem pants at posting full schedules on the internet I don't know why!! I think it would be benifitial and surely not hard for them!

It was an idea I wanted to use for myself but realise this is the kind of place that can really help as there are plenty of grinders an I see posts that say "don't play this it's a shark pool" I don't have this information to the extent of other guys on here!

Love the idea and I think it would work really well to start off with but over time as more and more info is put into it (that's what it's going to need to be really good), it would slow down so much and would need a really big computer to run it

I know some sites have an XML feed with upcoming tournaments listed but not all sites will I guess

Main problem is going to be out of date data otherwise, obviously
