Area Barcelona Trip
Aims • To keep costs to a minimum whilst giving the effect of a maximum treat.
• Bars improve through implementation of new ideas arising from Barcelona.
• Lower GM turnover through reward, recognition and team building.
• GMs become familiar on the trip creating an invisible mentor scheme whereby newer GMs will feel comfortable asking experienced GMs for help and advice in the future.
Costs based on 9 people; Total £997.09 (£110pp) + one evening meal Car share to airport 1. Harrogate, Call Lane, EP, Huddersfield 2. Derby, Hockley, Cornerhouse, Sheffield 3. Lincoln
Flight £584.82 (£68.94pp) Flying from Liverpool airport at 11.30am on Tuesday 17th June and returning on Thursday 19th at 12.30pm. These flights were chosen to give the team the best possible opportunity to get the most out of their trip; meaning the group will be able to fully experience Barcelona’s independent bar scene which kicks into action at midnight; as well as have time for a little culture and the opportunity to get back to work plans fully boxed off. If different flights were chosen we would have been looking at a £400 increment .
Public transport card T10 £78.55 (£8.72pp) This card gives us ten journeys which will also be sufficient to cover transport to and from the airport eliminating the need for expensive taxi transfers.
Accommodation @ Generator youth hostel £333.72 (£18.54pppp) Cheap and cool youth hostel within easy access to metro stations.
Evening meal One evening meal to be funded by WAM, targets will be set by Ian Appleyard over the coming weeks and the opulence of the meal will run in direct correlation to the targets achieved. (From Burger King to a gourmet restaurant)
Other meals and drinks To be paid for by the GMs
Work element of the trip
• Outside area
• Review summer operating plan
• Cocktail innovation and delivery
• Design and display
• Food service
• Launch trip advisor to maximum effect in our bars
A selection of must see bars
Dry martini Recently sold its millionth Dry Martini all shaken by a very old and cool owner. 41 degrees Owned by one of the “El Bulli” team this bar has an amazing range of fabulous molecular cocktails. Pippa social club A secret speak easy den with eight rooms and an eclectic style Bar Mutis A secret opulent drinking den only accessible by private invitation
L’ascensor This gorgeous little bar gets its name because you can only get to it via the rickety old fashioned wooden lift El’ Armario Another tiny spot in the El Raval neighbourhood. The name in Spanish means "wardrobe," which is accurate: you literally walk past the owner's clothing collection to get inside
El Mariachi In the heart of the Gótico there is a secret Barcelona bar run by Manu Chao with great cocktails and vermouth. Hi guys,
I'm helping to organise a stag do to Barcelona next month.
We have sorted flights, & 'booked' some accommodation – a cheap hostel, though we are looking to upgrade to an apartment. Seem to be struggling here as not many places will accept 10 guys for a weekend.
I have been to Barcelona a few times, but not in this capacity.
does anybody have any advice on where to go drinking that is suitable for 10 mid 30’s guys. also any advice on daytime activities – we are thinking to just chill on the beach during the day.
any must do's or places to avoid?
any input greatly appreciated.
thanks, Paul
