(prompted by something David wrote).

It's midsummer this year, & you have £50 million to spend.

You can choose between just 2 players.

deBruyne

Martial

We now know who chose who.

Given the chance to decide again, which one should go to Man C, & to Man U?

Which was the better value, & why?

United needed Martial and u could argue he's more useful to Man City too with Agueros injury problems.

Think KDB is a better player ATM tho

i think they are at the right clubs

at the time i considered De Bruyne a luxury purchase, given city's resources in attacking midfield but early evidence is he improves the team further

martial more a purchase of necessity

too early to draw definitiive conclusions on either.

staggered that mourinho sold de bruyne though.

They both appear to be stunningly good buys, real team-changers, but deBruyne, in a team already full of talent, seems to have been exceptional. Martial is pretty handy, too. These are the sort of players I tune in to watch.

De Bruyne already an established and exceptional footballer as evidenced by his performances in the Bundesliga, Player of the Year etc.  His transition to the City team has been seamless, still young at 24 and still so much more to come. Brilliant signing.

Martial is only 19 and I think has surprised everyone with his start. Not in the same league as De Bruyne yet.

I think a more interesting comparison is Sterling v Martial. Only a year between them in age and it will be fascinating to see their careers develop. Personally as a City fan I'm happy with Sterling but he has been more hit and miss so far compared to De Bruyne - he was dreadful the other night in the Champions League.

Today was the first time I've really seen Martial for an extended period, and I thought he looked good. Some nice touches, and all the United attacks seemed to go through him. Looks a great prospect at just 19. Compare his performance vs Rooney, and surely there is a new main man at O/T? I genuinely can't remember Rooney touching the ball today, just seems to have no influence on games these days.

Not the best game for KDB today, but I guess you could say the same for all 20 outfield players on the pitch. 2 hours of my life I'll never get back.

No big fan of Mourinho but...

De Bruyne spat the dummy out when Chelsea would not play him centrally and didnt try a leg in a couple of games.

He looks a much more mature player now. Anybody who ever doubted his talent needs a health check.

I still think DeBruyne would fit in at Old Trafford and add something to the side/squad. He looks like one of 'ours'.

But...

Given the specific choice of either Martial or DeBruyne I'd take Martial. His potential is amazing and for someone so young, and seemingly so slight, he shows tremendous composure and strength.

As an avid blue boy, I was not over excited with the signing of KDB, The German league is miles apart from the Premiership, KDB looked ever so tired today but has impressed in recent games, Been to watch city 3x this year all away and I personally think we are missing two defensive players, Koralov has dropped inform and Sagna distributes the ball so badly, Hoping for Pablo to return soon. I do love our Argentinian Blues
