Wow Julian that's pretty dumb alright! I suppose it's probably a good lesson to learn, NEVER give your credit card details out over the net unless you're 100% sure that the site is genuine. Did you not notice from the dodgy wording of the popup?

For any of you that use EBAY be very aware that scammers and hackers are very frequent, Ebay keep it very very quiet.

The GOLDEN RULE never never never respond to an email in your (personal email) inbox pertaining to be from ebay, ebay will only ever send you an email directly into your EBAY mail box and they will never ask for your credit card details or passwords.

I was on a train home yesterday. It was a GNER jobby with WiFi internet access. I fancied logging on for half an hour so used my debit card to pay for the service. (three buckeroonies)

Wasn't too keen on entering my debit card 16 digit number, start date, expiry date, CVV number and home address with some dodgy dude siting next to me, so I did it in the lav.

Got some dodgy looks walking into the lav with my laptop. Wasn't until I came out that I realised it may have been a poor plan.

Not to worry, I have no shame. Having an entire railway carriage think that you just peeled one off in the bog is a small price to pay for piece of mind.

Well done for averting your disaster there, but isn't this a bit scary? If you can get a pop up from Laddies that makes sensible people go and do this ..how secure is laddies?
How is giving your credit card details to anyone, that pretends they need them to give you money, sensible in any way shape or form?

"Poker tips site harbours Trojan"

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/05/16/poker_site_trojan/

It looks like the hackers have decided that targetting poker players is profitable...

What is more worrying is that the tips site didn't know the program, which they paid to have custom made, contained the trojan at all.

Fascinating stuff Bongo.

I always worry when I see these dropped executables & rootkit drivers.

Quote
"It has recently come to our attention that early versions of this program that we received contained a virus that installs itself every time the user runs rbcalc. The virus goes undetected by Norton AntiVirus and Microsoft Defender, even to this day."

This is another reason why no one should use Nortons Anti Virus.
