tad unfortunate.

i'm reraising pre-flop here. if he folds then u collect his 4800 and if he calls or comes back over then you know u have the best hand.

nice catch by the guy though  Cheesy

Perfect play IMO, you just got unlucky.

If you re-raise here no-one else can play the hand and he passes any hand except the good stuff, and he ships it in on the flop with them anyway. You also allow someone to make a squeze play with a mid pair. Just ul.

Hi Bhoy,

generally, when you decide to slowplay Aces like this, you do it on the assumption that you are going to reduce your chances of winning the pot, but you will increase the amount of money (ie expectation) that you make.

This hand is a fine example of this.. you are around 50% or so to win the hand, and are getting over 2/1 on your stack (both post and preflop)  which is the byproduct of playing AA in this manner. If you are happy with AA winning less , but (in general) winning a lot more the times it wins, then you played the hand very well.

If the stacks were deeper/or shallower, id tend to prefer raising it back preflop..

(if they are shallower you *generally* dont want them to have an excuse to fold post flop when they are likely committed preflop, and if they are deeper you *generally* dont want to call and offer overly attractive implied odds on your stack. Usual caveat of this being generic advice applies)

... but as played, I think you played it very well

just calling hellohorse's initial hand you are saying "i have a mediocre hand but willing to see a flop". what i would have done is re-raised them thus demonstrating a strong hand. if they want to call then thats up to them. If they dont call then you have won the pot. I'd rather win 3,000 chips then lose 13,000

I don't mind slow playing aces and letting someone else raise for me as I want value from them. If I don't hit a set they are not unbeatable and I proceed with caution like any other pp.

This situation is different. Someone had already made the raise for you and you had 4800 + the blinds to collect. That is a nice addition to your stack. I am reraising pre-flop to isolate and if I don't get any calls at all, then I am not concerned.

thanks guys for the input

I decided to employ a little slowplaying realising the inherent dangers....I wanted a big stack, this was the opportunity..

My reasoning was even if the smaller stack were to beat me..i still would have roughly half my chips with the possibility of them going all in against the bigger stack....and would have resulted in me being back at square one if i beat the bigger stack...lol

the flop delighted me..i read the big stack correctly for having a K...maybe a Q too (possibly suited)...I guess it was far too much for him to lay down top pair and my initial flat call turning into an all in smacked of a steal in his eyes....

so u live n learn

I mean you cant always raise big wi AA..sometimes in life you got to take them chances when they arise
