for me!

I had/and have promised myself that I will play no more online poker once my current money on BPL goes, and, well, it just has...

I am registered for the next two BPL tourns and then that is that.

I'm not losing a massive amount of money but it has become more of a distraction, in terms of time, than I can afford to have at the moment, and, more of an extra cost per month than I would have liked. Rather than head down the 'online poker is rigged route' I have decided that I just can't take the 'variance' that is involved to play at a level that I enjoy... and being of a maths based background I just can't bring myself to terms with suffering anymore than my fair share of bad beats.

So I have two more tourns and that will be that for as long as I can possibly go. I will still play some live games once I have more time, but me and online poker are finished.... and so if you ever see TheAuditor or Rooky9 at a table then give him a shout and remind, na, barate him for being so weak and for going back on this self inflicted excile!!

GL at the tables....

Makes a refreshing change to see someone who knows when to give up after losing money.

Good luck to you.  Nothing to stop you coming back if you re-evaluate a few months down the line.

A great honest post - nice to see.

GL in life, and as MrMoves says, maybe you will be back once you re evaluate things at a later date.

Thanks for the replies... to be honest I wasn't sure if anyone would (2 from 86 views) - it seems to be a bit of a taboo subject and I can't recall anyone saying they were a losing online player on here!

Thanks for the luck. I think I am lucky in that I have been able to take any losses because of my income but I'm sure there are others who may not be able to. It's sometimes good to just stop and make sure we don't lose sight of that possibility....

thanks again...

Peeps don't reply because they don't want to encourage or discourage you in your decisions at what is obviously a delicate time.

I also thought this was a really interesting post.  It kind of chimes with a post I just made on the "Blonde Poker site honest opinions" board.  Maybe this is just an observation from people I know but I think more players who started playing online within the last two years or so are realising that you can be a pretty good player (if you've already spent some time developing your game) and also be profitable (or at least not loss making) without devoting massive amounts of your time to it on an ongoing basis.  (I note you focused on the time element rather than the losses).

In a way it's developing a properly recreational relationship with the game, realising that actually you are not a aiming to be a professional poker player so why are you playing every damn day!  It's supposed to be fun remember (even if it's really only fun when you're winning!).

Red - This is not really a delicate time for me. It was an easy decision and one which i have managed to make without getting into any trouble. I put it on here for two reasons. firstly if i didnt i know i'd probably just keep playing. secondly i do believe there are a large number of people who lose money they can't afford to, and, it is this subject that never seems to be highlighted.

Good post chris... I do think it has been taken slightly out of context as he has never professed to aiming to be the wsop champion, unless another one of his reraises gets thru in the home game!!!

With shouts of i was only ever a 2-1 dog echoin around the room. Chris has learnt alot about the game in a short space of time but he has his accountancy exams coming up and need to concentrate on them!

He will come back with a new lease of life and ready to be a 2-1 dog all over again!

Good luck in the exams mate, and i'll try and get a wsop won this year (your 15% managers fee is safe!)

Lol.  Sorry, I was referring to the "Any unbiased opinions on Blonde Poker's poker room?" thread in the Internet Poker section.

i want to disscuss spam.

I'd like to entertain the idea that its more common than people believe it to be.

i'd like to posulate over the idea that spam is somehow the opitome of modern day capitalism.

i like to eat some spam.

i'd like to see some example spam(possibly earlier confiscated by the spam police still with its little hand spamcuffs on)

i'd like to share jokes about spam

i want to listen to spam doing a cover version of pj and duncans lets get ready to rumble.

BUT BY NO MEANS DO I WANNA SEE SPAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
