Just off to rewatch my DVD of "the games" with Kirsty Gallacher in a leotard.
Before that I leave you with another thought.......Robbie Earle as football pundit....why?

The day I ever answer ITV to this question is the day I shoot myself in the head.

Its an Old Chestnut
The BBC:
Positives:
Gary Lineker...smooth, professional, sardonic, knowledgeable. Leicester boy
Martin O'Neill: Brilliant, slightly spoilt by taking four minutes to answer every question
Alan Hansen: Top pundit
Motty: Not everyone's cup of tea, but an icon
Jonathan Pearce: Improved tons as a commentator, now does a nice line in irony.
Barry Davies "Oh I say"..still a great commentator
Radio5Live: all of it, fantastic radio station
Negatives:
Alan Shearer: Sends me to sleep, but knows his stuff
Mark Lawrenson: like chalk on a blackboard
Garth Crooks: So earnest and serious it makes me want to get him very drunk and let him loose in a Lion enclosure
Graeme Le Saux: Not a fan
Ray Stubbs: Horrendous
Hazel Irvine: makes me want to scream whatever she is presenting, so wholesome I want to throw her off a cliff
ITV
Positives:
Gabby Logan: Yes indeed
Ruud Gullit: Top pundit
Terry Venables: Seen it done it, slightly spoilt by gratuitous cheeky chappy cockney moments
Peter Drury: Excellent underrated commentator trained on 5 live
Negatives
AllyMcCoist: stick to light entertainment, gruesome punditry
Andy Townsend: How does he still get onto panels for events like this. Hopeless
Clive Tyldesley: Not a patch on the BBC commentators
Jon Champion: second rate motty like commentator
Jim Beglin: Non descript colour man
Give me the BBC any day
Your opinions?
to be honest i really cant listen to any of them, the are all shockingly Biased

100% agree with this!
Robbie is the distillation of all that is wrong with many football pundits. He states the blindingly obvious, using a lexicon that is easily surpassed by the majority of intelligent 10 year olds.
He comes across as a nice guy but that just ain't enough!
ditto andy townsend..ditto alan shearer..ditto a number of others.
Get Tank, Jen or Padraig Parkinson doing the analysis rather than these hordes of insipid, unimaginative ex footballers and we'd finally inject some colour and humour into the commentary.
Having said that, Gary Linekar is a very competant link man. It's a measure of his competency that the shocking puns he comes out with (seems like he has cut down a bit on this) don't grate as much as they should. Also Martin O' Neill offers much greater depth to his analysis than most. WHY DIDN'T HE GET THE ENGLAND JOB!!!!!!
Quote of the day.....
Paul Robinson, dressed in bright yellow goalie kit, rushes out to obstruct paraguay striker from shooting.
Mark Lawrenson..."It must've been like being attacked by a giant banana!"

This quote is the last thing i remember about an instantly forgetable second half - i spent the rest of my table fantasizing about being confronted by a 6ft banana. Just imagine how long it would take to eat that!!!
Yum Yum......

Ian Wright is excellent, good to see someone with true passion when it comes to footie.
I just don't understand why they get non Englishmen to analyse England games, daft.

To give the rest of us a break from their f***ing inherrent ramblings about how great England are. TBH I'd rather watch the coverage in German!
