I beleive he was very successful "back in the day", went broke through dice (? could be wrong, but a casino game of some kind), made it back again, landed the WPT gig and now enters a controversial UK Poker figure into major events due to an old friendship!

from various series of Late Night Poker, yes
Before you ask, Google is your best bet for the controversies: "dave welch aces poker" should do the trick! (rather than repeating it all on here please everyone)

Not quite true, i cant remember if i read it or someone told me it, but he introduced Dave to someone looking into backing players, due to thier friendship. As far as i am aware mike doesnt back him

Mike Sexton at one point had cashed more than anyone else at the WSOP until he couldn't play in it anymore.
There is a mention of DW in the camels blog from a couple of months back

Sexton also made several million on his Party Poker shares - he was involved in advising the software developers.

Andrew Black, is clearly a class act, i just wish hed calm down a bit when he gets a big chip lead on final tables. Instead of trying to knock everyone out stragiht away, just calm down, wait for a few players to drop and wait for a few situations
