Punk Floyd - thaty's JOHN Conroy - thanks. I am getting terrible with names, sorry.

Daniel ("unknown"), or more correctly, Daniel Law, John C T Law's Son - your Dad gave us a great interview, really. Watch it on Poker 425 from Wednesday night onwards, 11pm. And yes, he was well unlucky to lose with KK to Camel's TT, but as you say, that's Poker.

Well he was, for once, WRONG. He interviewed just fine, believe me.

Did you know that he used to think that Julian Thew - who's in his forties - was my son? Intolerable.

great stuff tikay... ul in the comp! i'm having the same problem at the mo, building big stacks/good starts then not finalling!

well have to learn i suppose and the hard way i guess lol!

very pleased with how i played at sheffield ul in the main to a john law special! but i did well the 200 only to come 12th but had some nice comments on my play thankyou lord of leeds  Wink

i used to look forward to tikay on my table one extra passive player! now he's moving and shaking like his grandson... who claims to be tight, i nearly spat out my water when he said that lol! some people hav the wrong idea, although i saw his call allin after a raise and a reraise with 64... suited sorry! was the last hand and the dealer did have to drag my 74off out of my hand lol

tikay "....moving & shaking...."  (we will ignore the grandson bit for now).

Yup, I turned my game inside out, & the confidence wsas growing by the day. But Friday's debacle has shattered my confidence completely, & I made a complete idiot of myself in the process. Defeat at poker has never bothered me, but bad play has. It's back to grinding I guess.

don't give it up yet tikay, this is just a hickup... u probably get them more at ur age anyway! think how u got ur chips to that amount then think did u give yourself a chance to win the comp! and i think when ur willing to not only play the premium hands u give yourself a chance to win these events!

look at the camel, yet another victory and he is one of the original movers & shakers! you were just unlucky at the wrong times! as you said, people had one hand better than yours when it really mattered... my problem is i always seem to have the worst hand lol!

as for kevs qestion, thee & thine lasted till just after the first break... he had aq as he would say how can i get away from that when i'm reraised! he defo missed u kev, a lost soul when he was out lol!

see you in blackpool seat5!

I've just read the whole thread and wanted to say thanks for the support. Having "God" on my side defintely helped.

I must say I think this was the final table played in the best spirit I've ever contested. No bitching or over celebrating. Just everyone trying their hardest to win without comprising their ethics. A pleasure from start to finish.

I think I should correct tikay about one of the key hands in the final. The TT v KK hand didn't go exactly as he said. I raised and John smooth called. Fair enough really, when a loony attacks your blind flat calling with a monster is usually the best strategy. I flopped a ten and all the money went in on the turn. It's not to say I wouldn't have lumped it in preflop, but I wasn't such a luckbox after all on this occasion. I suppose when you get to tikay's advanced age it's easy to get these little details mixed up Cheesy especially as he had all his glad handing celeb bit to do as well as a live update!

The key hand for me was one I wasn't involved in. Jim Reid had my number throughout the final table and had reraised me three times to push me off hands. Undoubtedly we were going to play a big pot sometime soon and he would almost certainly have had the better of it. I must say I was relieved when John knocked him out. Jim was definitely Man of the Match. He played superbly and deserved better than place.

As for the rankings. It feels great to be top. I doubt very much if I can win them however. I am now having a couple of months off poker to attend to "other matters". I will be keeping a close eye on proceedings however and although El Blondie himself is massive favourite if he is within striking distance when I return I will give it my best shot.

Lovely post Keith, & my apologies for mis-reporting the TT v KK hand. We try very hard not to let the facts get in the way of a good story. And anyway, I'm a retired Updater these days, Jen's the Daddy now. I did not plan to do an Update, but I was obliged to return for Day Two because olf Poker 425, & I was feeling very contrite after my appalling display the night before, & did not want to go. But I thought it may be good therapy to do a little Update.

But WHAT a Final, & yes, I echo your sentiments. Not ONE whoop or hollar or table bang, no theatricals, played in a lovely spirit, and played very hard. A lovely change, & our congrats to all the Finalists. No deals, either. GREAT STUFF.

Jim Reid? I agree. A tremendous player, a formidable opponent, and a top man. But I did not know WHO I wanted to win, several guys there were particular faves of mine - John Law, Keith, Jim, Alan, Fraser, I was rooting for them ALL.....!

Well played Keith, & good luck with the "other matters".

The interviews will  be on Poker 425 commencing Wednesday.

"glad handing celeb bit".......

Yeah, I must confess, it's a bit embarrassing when half the casino say "Hi tikay" & I don't know who they are. But manners maketh man, so I shake plenty of hands, & exchange kisses where possible......

I can't deny I enjoy it either. Dave's got me right - "no man who achieved so little......"
