Saw iron maiden a few times in concert awesome truly.
Also metallica supported by anthrax, excellent.
Rod stewart at Villa park (biggest gate they've ever had at that s**thole Grin) supported by Belinda Carlisle ahhhh, i'm sure she was giving me the eye!
Mr blue sky, an absolute classic and of course a long standing blues anthem (BCFC). Actually Jeff Lynne is from where i live (shard end) and a lot of their songs included the word "blue" due to his 'fixation' with the best footie team in the world Roll Eyes
The Cure, absolute class along with the Smiths (voted the most influential british band of the last 30 years recently).
I saw madness at finsbury park, they can do no wrong (except maybe cecilia, though for pure comedic genius getting Chris Eubank to introduce it on top of the pops "at numer six is suggs singing cecilia").
Plenty, plenty more -too many to mention.

Tikay, i dont know many old people who liked the smiths, so dont feel too bad Wink

Morrisey is an absolute 110% genius, his ability to write songs that captured the thoughts and minds of a generation was remarkable..and Jonny Marr (as is acknowledged world wide) is a truly gifted guitarist.

I think the Smiths "Mattered" to 16 to 20 year olds, because the lyrics and tone of the music summed up the way we felt.... I look back with fondness of my days as a penniless student, living in a bedsit, eating instant mash sarnies (dont knock them till you have tried them, they were a delicacy at the end of the month when we were totally skint, and even the sofa had been emptied of furry coins Smiley ) while listening to the great man in his distinctive, unique way re-assuring us that we could make a difference, but we had to suffer in the process.

I still frequently listen to my old Smiths albums, and the new album by Morrisey is simply brilliant. Although the old stuff doesnt have the same meaning any more, it is still thought provoking and remarkably fresh sounding....

Quite simply MORRISEY IS GOD !!

Kev.
I agree, Morrissey + Marr = LEGENDS!

Being not quite old enough to have grown up with the Smiths (being more of an Oasis / Longpigs / Bluetones / Shed 7 man) I quickly realised that i should have been born about 5 years earlier so i could have seen live bands such as the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and in deed he Smiths.

Tikay - i think you should take back the yuk comment! - or i'll start exposing you for having Simon and Garfunkel on your Ipod!  Grin
