Right dont take the piss but........How do i go about getting a train ticket?  Can i go to my train station and buy in advance, buy the ticket on the train on the day or is there a place i can get it on the web?.

I havent been on a train since i was about 12 (and used to hide in the bogs but dont think i can do that for 3 hours) Cheesy

Jim go to www.thetrainline.com

oh and check the single fares - probably cheaper than a return.

Not sure where you are boarding ..but if it is a manned station it is a legal requirement that you purchase b4 boarding..if not you can buy on the train..
It is usualy cheaper to Advance purchase for longer journies too.....from your local Station or online
