Getting busted by Mrs Red in the main comp was worth it for the look of unadulterated joy on her face!

Possibly the strangest hand of the weekend was played about an hour into our 6 handed sng early monday morning. Blinds were still at 25-50 as we were all too drunk and lazy to bother with a clock.
I decided to limp utg before the cards were dealt, Bobby1 called, Dan raised and Claw moved all in. Flushy, being a big girl's blouse, decided to wait until after the deal to decide whether to call.
Being the luckiest person on earth Flushy gets dealt
and moves in, Cupcake, Dan an myself all pass and Dan calls.
Claw now realises that she's dealt herself 3 cards, Mel is called over and rules that her hand is dead but we decide to ignore the ruling and let her pick 2 of the 3. For some reason we now start picking cards out of the muck and find a jack to go with the 2 in Claw's hand so she wisely decides that the 1 outer is unlikely to be a good choice and picks the 2 spades. The aces eventually hold up but Flushy going into his true gent mode decides to give Claw some of her chips back to carry on playing, not a wise decision as he eventually bubbled and she cashed.
I must point out that I chose to go all-in blind, so hadn't picked my cards up yet - it wasn't a ruse as I had three cards to play with! Reading that back it's a wonder we bothered asking for a ruling at all the way we were playing!

Just remembered another classic quote from Indestructable, after Mel and I arrived for breakfast on Sunday morning having not gone to sleep until about 8am:
"I would say you two are looking lovely this morning, but I'd probably have a tell"

Here we go from what i can recall from a superb weekend.
Friday night met Kev, Ginger, Flushy, Robert, Suzanne, Ironside and some guy off the telly (think his name was dan?) excellent night.
Saturday decided to walk to the football as i had seen a sign when i walked to the casino the previous night for 6 a side football (that will be the place i said to myself!). phoned kev to get exact directions who puts tighty on "its 10 minutes from where you are" how was i to know he meant in a car!! Ended up getting a taxi "take me to goals driver and don't spare the horses" pulls up outside the "Globe Tavern". you would think people would be able to understand my highly polished Scottish eloquence
Get to football "you're now in team misfit - team Scotland are all in a pub in Wolverhampton watching the ABERDEEN game. (that's right isn't it tank?). Team misfit - well named and I blended in well - we were all mince.
Main event - (my first venture into live poker)
Got sat with teacake and Dingdell to my right who put me me at ease and made the experience not so nerve wracking as i had thought. UNTIL - call with
in 1st position(that's as loose as i get) folds to the blinds who call. flop comes jack high checks to me i stick in probably a too weak bet can't remember think it was 300, Dingdell proceeds to bang in 3000! now at this point the old butt cheeks tightened considerably and have never passed top pair so quickly. Once i fold Dingdell admits she meant to call and put in the wrong chips GRRRRRRRRR
Proceeded to thoroughly enjoy the experience till busting most of my chips when my nemesis (sorry mate forgot to ask your name as i couldn't breath for a period) caught the only queen left in the pack to bust my kings.
Live poker is so rigged!!!
But it just got better from there - won the heads up competition with a 100% record (played won - lost one) so a huge thank you to my team of absolute stars. Rod, Swordpoker, Leknave and especially Horneris who i had correctly predicted had my hopes for the weekend riding on his shoulders (and considerable hair-do)
played a couple of sng's and managed to win one coming back from the dead on a few occasion's.
Was great to meet all the rest of the Scottish guys Teacake, Lazaroonie, Tank, Rod, Swordpoker and Brad. Special mention to madasahatstand who my other half recognised as someone she know through work. which helped to dispel the image her image of poker players as some kind of mad gamblers (until she met Flushy on the sunday
)
Pity couldn't meet the rest of the Scots - was looking forward to meeting Scottish Dave as i was certain of a good laugh with him. and incredibly sorry billy didn't turn up as i would not have got fed up giving him a slap for the pain of me getting out of bed to get my brain messed up by that quiz.
Need to finish now. When i remember more will post again

In the second hi/lo sng, it was down to three players, well six really, booder was on team tank, I was on team ginger and mel was on team flushy. Ginger was on the button and we held a rather unattractive 9823 double suited, we debated for a second what to do for a second, then we asked Bongo (who was dealing) to give us another card, he duly swaps our 8 for a suited 4, and Ginger then raises the pot. Flushy got Bongo to swap all four of his cards and then he still passed!

Okay time for the full version. Get up early on Saturday morning to buy Adam my 10 year old son kit for the new rugby season. He has his first training session on Sunday morning at Old Albanians (don't those eastern europeans get everywhere) just outside St. Albans.
So first decision of the day do we go to good sports shop in Watford, you know the sort of the thing, independent, manned by staff who know what they are doing etc. or go to Sports Soccer. Waste 45 mins in Sports Soccer fail to find what we are looking for get Adam home late for him to go out with Anne Marie (my better half) and Rachel our 7 year old daughter.
Anne Marie has woken up with a heavy cold. Sore throat, sniffles the works. "It's okay I won't go then I can take care of the kids". "No, on you must go. I know how much you are looking forward to it".
So off I set. Feeling guilty already. Check the traffic news on my mobi....."there is six mile queue between J1 and J2 of the M6. Severe delay avoid". I'm already at J14. Okay go to 21 and cut across the M69 (interesting name for a motorway). Phone call as I reach Cov from Anne Marie. "How are you?" says I. "Terrible. My cold is worse and the kids are misbehaving". "Okay I am coming home".Anne Marie insists I continue. So now I am almost at Walsall full of guilt and heading to a venue that I have visited 3 times without cashing. Marvellous
Check into my family sized room at the village. Hmmm lucky clothes. Choose a paricularly snug fitting quiet PS top and of course my brand new "Team Billy No Mates" cap......On leaving the hotel walk straight through the photography session for the wedding. Bride not amused.
Sit at lights leaving Village for Grosvenor look in rear view mirror and see some bloke I know from Luton aka Tighty. We wave. First time I've seen him since muscular problem. Good to see him again. Have been mentioned in a couple of his articles on Blonde.
Long queue outside casino. See lots of faces I know but more that I don't. Get my name tag. Start to mangle...no sorry mingle. Fret about total non appearance of heads up team. Keep bugging Poppet to see if name tags have been collected. Fill out forms for HU comp and pay money to Roberto. Promise him a hat.
From this point on I tried to speak to lots of people and I could not possibly name them all in case I forget somebody.
Called to table. First to arrive at table so leave sunglasses in seat and go for a walk. Arrive back at the table. 6 ladies. 4 Blokes. Wardonkey on my right Mel dealing on my left. Do my normal trick of falling asleep for first two levels and watching everybody else play whilst keeping up a steady monologue. The standard was good. Nice steady poker. Build up my stack. People coming and going. Lost in the tournament now. Still smiling, still laughing but somehow my subconcious kicks in. I get a feel that Mel has made a move with a stack. I call. We both had an ace. My kicker slightly better. Mrs Red joins table.Jen joins table. Starts getting busy straight away. I get moved. Cheer from the table. Sales of Ibuprofen about to go up on Table 5. Ah table 5. After the fun of table 2. I have now entered the library. Already told the story of Matt raising my BB etc. Stay here for about an hour and moved to Simon and Ironsides table. The noise level. Even I'm eclipsed. Pick up some chips. Good table want to stay here.
Get moved. Did a terrible thing with J9. Too embarassed to give full details. First and only bad mistake. Got lucky hit the straight to beat two pairs
Final table over average chips........take your time baby......grind it out. Simon is trying to needle. Been there done that. Anyway Mad has got his number and is sitting between us. The rest you know as it is in other posts.
Heads up comp has gone on without me. First match is two all. Still on final table. Lose my £20 when Danafish beats Diceman first hand.
I did not have nearly enough time to mingle and chat with people because I was so involved in the comp. but the people I did meet were without exception great to be with. This will be rectified at BB4.
I had to leave on the Sunday morning to watch Adam play rugby. I watched him put in the most amazing cover tackle sending the other kid 4 yards sideways. The whole family went out to celebrate at lunchtime.
I have not nearly done justice to the whole event but the rest will remain in the memory for a long time.
I am sitting in my office at home as I type this. Looking at the trophy. Smiling

a few more from me.
Players that particularly impressed me,
Jen, never sat with her live before. never saw her make the same move twice. lucky to pick up two big hands while she was 'dancin'
Madasahatstand. made all her decisions while looking her opponent straight in the eye. didnt see her make any wrong step all night.
Simon Nowab. I hate rude or agressive table talk but although he never shut up, there was no hint of that at all from him. I'm very much looking forward to playing him often when DTD opens.
Lightbreeze. wasn't sure at first but I was on the first table and semi final and final table with him and he was playing differently at all three stages. well timed aggression.
Teacake. but for a couple of massive races near the end he could easily have finalled with a mountain.
Aslo would like to mention an excellent ruling by Dani.
my BB Wardonkey UTG, Mrs Red mid position and Jen SB all limped. I check with
flop is raggy with a 5 on it. checks round
turn brings a 2nd club. Jen bets out. I try a move and raise.
Wardonkey passes
Mrs Red calls (uh oh)
Jen passes. top pair top kicker I think.
river is a third club but pairs the board. I move all in
I hear Mrs Red say "Go on then"
I show my flush.
I hadn't heard the dealer ask "do you want to know how much?"
school boy error.
Dani made the perfectly sensible ruling that, because I was all in my hand stayed live and Mrs Red had free info. obviously if she has the boat she calls, if not she passes.
the reason I mention it is I'm possitive In Notts my hand would have been ruled dead. If I was lucky I'd get the unmatched river bet back, but I wouldnt guarentee it.
I think Mrs Red was calling so I cost myself chips and Mrs Red got another 30 mins at the table. (not a bad thing, nice lady)
Good Ruling Dani.
also,
Dave Compton - bigger than Id imagined
MikkyT - smaller than I imagined
Simon Nowab - louder than I expected
Wardonkey - drunker than I've ever seen a poker player
Jen - very strange mix of intimidating and pleasant.
Mad - similar but more unnerving than intimidating.

Woke up Friday morning, not believing I am actually still potentially going to a blonde bash! I've been looking forward to BB1 and then BB2, and had to miss both, so I really couldn't believe that I was going to be 3rd time lucky. Manage to scrape enough cash to be able to get to the bash. I have a job seekers cheque just paid in, thank god, and that should cover all but any extra STTs I want to do. My cash out from virgin and BPL hadn't arrived dispite waiting 4 days (at least the bowmans people kept me informed over the telephone!). Anyway, I go into town for a hair cut and peroxide (although I found none of that) and call mark to do a final check on the lift arrangements.
An uneventful Friday evening sees me winning back the money I cashed out from BPL, whilst downing half the contents of a litre bottle of vodka and a 2 litre bottle of coke. I gets a call from my sister in law at about 11:30pm, shes out of drink, so realising I'm too drunk to carry on playing, I head round there. Boy, its true that time really does fly, and another half a litre of vodka later (shared this time) I find myself walking into the house at 8:30am with my lift arriving in half an hour. Enough time for the three S's! (Sh**, shower, shave).
I check my bank account online to see if they have refunded the money they stole to pay off the overdue visa (without my permission!). Its Saturday and I know that they told me 3 days over the phone, but well, maybe God is on my side just once. My luck is in! They have! I can afford a hotel room now too, woooo.
An enjoyable journey down to Wasall saw Swordpoker (Mark) curing my fear of wasps with his NLP carry on. Very interesting that, its the sort of stuff Paul Mckenna and Derren Brown do. I start to wonder if this sort of thing could be used on the card table and we discuss the morales thereof!
Arrive at the casino far too early. A certain mr End had gotten the times mixed up, but it meant we could head back to the village and check out the liverpool everton derby. BIG MISTAKE. I was able to witness the most comical attempt at a save that Reina has ever had to make. Liverpool got beat. Bummer. But had a chance to sit and chat to the delightful Ruth and also her guest and his boxing exploits. Spoke to a few other faces, some I had met, like ever the gentleman Mr Red Dog and his lovely wife, and some I hadn't (sorry guys, so many names, so little time - I can't remember who was who this early on and feeling both drunk and tired!) and really started to think to myself what a wonderful bunch of people we have here on blonde. Its always said over the forum, but its nice to be able to confirm in person.
We head over to the casino and the queue as expected had started before the doors opened. I manage to blag my way onto the members only queue by politely pointing out that I had registered online and as a member of various other grosvenor casinos it isn't my fault that you don't accept online registrations. She still made me fill out the form though! But I beat the rush. Met some more wonderful blondes in the queue however, instantly reconsing madasahatstand who struggled to understand my "scottish" accent until she realised I wasn't scottish and her brain switched over to understanding scouse lol. We'd met briefly in Cincins but obviously I wasn't all that memorable lol
I made a beeline for poppet because I had heard rumours..........that she was giving out name tags. Then I sat with the ever entertaining but bloody annoying ironside, and scottish eck, and had a slap up breakfast. Yum! Met various other blondes all eating before the event, suzanne (who I'm sorry I didnt get to talk to as much as I would like, even though I was in your company for some time back at the village, maybe next time!), Robert HM, what a star organising those heads up. A4 note pad out just like a real laywer
. Chatted to Charmaine at the bar and chilli, *WOLF WHISTLES* who also only just realised I was a scouser. She told me she had grew up not far from me, which was nice to know - shes lost her accent though lol. She does look hotter in the flesh
Strangely it was her paying me the compliments, something that would continue throughout the day. I'm not used to all this attention, having been a kept man for the last far too many years. It was like being 18 again - prolly the last time I was single haha.
The event itself was very well run, I enjoyed the presentations beforehand. Well done guys! I had a reasonably quiet table, with Ruth to my right and we continued our chatting from the village. Chippie Leicester and his pal took it on themselves to start "playing daft" with blind raises and what not, and when I looked down at AK I thought it was a good time to capitalise. Unfortunately my raise on the flop, after their "raise and call in the dark", was too much strength and they folded. I was up to 6k at the first break without using my second set of 3k chips so that brought me to a 9k total. Managed a few steals and small pots during the next two levels, and then Iron joined the table and spoilt the party with his rather large mouth. I'm usually a mouthy git at the table, especially when newmanseye is around but at these sort of events I tend to stay quiet, play poker and be socialable. The banter can wait until the final, I told myself
Anyway, I lost over half my stack when my jacks clashed with AQ and he hit a four flush. Shortly before the break, I tried to make a steal on Ironsides big blind with K9 after he dared me to do it in the hand before. Unfortunately, the nervous looking blonde never heard my all-in, how rude! And promptly annouunced raise, throwing in a min raise. Chippie Lecester was quick to point out as the guy tried to fold his A10 that as he had announced raise, the raise stood and he had to go all in. BUMMER, keep your mouth shut next time pal
hehe, just kidding. Anyway, the flop hit me first, but then him so that was me out. Ironside claims he would have called with 23 (which appeared on the turn and river) but I don't believe him.
More to follow!

Just saying thanks to anyone who was involved in organising bb3
To many threads so i picked this one.
My night cut short by a horrible headache/migraine that sapped the fun for me a bit, still great to put faces to names.
Congrats to winners.

Rhow after what we thought was a Carlo dwell saying
"sorry I was more interested in my lettuce"
.
Now that's something I thought I would never hear at a poker table.
