Well, tomorow evening, at 8 minutes to 10, I will have been ciggie-free for exactly 2 months, & it's fair to say, I'm well pleased.
Big thank you's to those who helped me, especially Decider, Nemesis, Chili, Sofa, Red, & many others.
Health benefits - not noticed any, though I'm eating like a donkey & will soon be as big as Colchester Kev.
The one oddity has been my sleep patterns. I know not smoking helps us sleep better, but I seem to have developed sleeping sicknesss, I can't get enough sleep now.
I don't do the moralising thing that most ex-smokers do, if folks wanna smoke, I don't mind, that's their decision. But silently, privately, inwardly, I see the smokers running outside & standing in the cold & wind & rain so they can have their little nicotine fix every hour, & I can't help feel how pathetic they are. Luckily, I WAS that person for nearly 50 years, so I say nothing......!
Anyways, it's Christmas in less than 3 weeks, so I may well apply to rejoin the Smokers League on Xmas Day.......
Seriously, thank you to all those who helped.

If I do the New-Year Crash Diet, can I start smoking to help me do it? I mean, it was quitting fags that caused the prob.....

Excellent post (apart from last two lines...) You have done incredibly well so far, I have every confidence in you to overcome this Xmas hoodoo and continue a smoke free life into the new year.
I reckon your sleep improvements are down to you being a more relaxed person now that you are not a slave to nicotine. I sleep a lot more too now, I don't bother staying up for just another cigarette. I also find that I am not waking in the middle of the night or having restless sleeps as often.
Health improvements, I find playing 5-a-sides a lot less tiring now, I don't spend so long at the start of the game coughing my lungs up.
The smokers cough is gone too, I think that took around 4-6 weeks to go.
I was suffering from pins and needles a lot. E.g., sitting on the loo for a while my leg would go numb, or sleeping on one side for a while my arm would go numb, I knew this was a circulation issue but my Dr said it was probably just the way I was sitting/sleeping. Well, I haven't changed anything in that respect and my I haven't been suffering pins and needles for around 6 weeks now. I believe now as I did before that this was poor circulation caused by lack of oxygen in my blood stream. I am so glad that it's gone now, only 33 and having circulation issues was causing me to worry.
Well done all, now there is another group of folk thinking of quitting we can all lend our support to them.
Cheers,
Eoan

Oh, and well done all of those that have broken free of the evil weed, I hope to be joining the ranks eventually[/color]
There is a new thread for this Ginger, I'm sure they would welcome another quitter. You have nothing to lose.

Well into Week 9 for Chili & myself now, & still no problem, except I've put a shed-load of weight on. And I have sleeping sickness, I sleep like never before, it's good, but time-consuming!
How are the rest of you Smoking Quitters getting on?
Hang in there guys, it's GOOD to quit!

Go for a run or go to the gym. You should be able to run now that you have stopped smoking

Don't think I dare start again. Tom (Red) said he'd thump me, & he punches his weight. On the plus side, Chili said she'd never talk to me again if I started smoking. Hmm....
Does a Crimble Cigar count?
