it takes time to get to know the rules and regulations in a new place,
you can ignore the rule about not feeding the animals - that was amended a long while back, honest!!
feast away:
it took me all this time to learn to sway at the same time as the bananas!!
I will save them for later - they wont let me eat bananas during w*rk hours as it takes them forever to get me back down from swinging on the lights

Hey guys, I'm the writer of the comic and I saw this thread in the referrers for my site and thought I'd chime in. I agree with the moderators that linking to a site that features a competing ad can warrant the removal of the post. I want to point out, though, that the ad on my site was only put up as a favor for a friend and that I don't make a dime off it. I'll hopefully have paying ads soon, though!
I'd like to thank madasahatstand, tehmac, and Newmanseye for their kind words about the comics.

I think it was RED-DOG that posted that line in my post. It seems I can't do anything right around here. Bit harsh on a new member who doesn't know the forum etiquette to perfection. My apologies.
I agree, it was rude and uncalled for.
It was indeed me. The reasons for removal are clearly discussed in the thread, so he can't plead ignorance of the rules, he continues to post someting when I have removed it once and have made it clear it is not allowed.
I'm trying to do a difficult job here. and instead of support from the members I get criticism. That doesn't help me or the newbies. Why do you think my comment was rude and uncalled for?

IMHO there was just no need for the 'slow learner' comment Red (which, again in my opinion only, is offensive, and bordering on personal abuse). A simple repetition of the reasons for the removal of the link would have sufficed. It is clear from his introductory thread elsewhere that tehmac has no financial gain to be made from the site linked to.
That said I, and the majority of blondes, fully appreciate the work all the mods do here, and realise that sometimes it is like walking a tightrope.

I do think it's a bit dim to repost something which had already been deleted and which you'd been told was not allowed.
A little tip Red-Dog - if you edit someone else's post make sure it's clear it was you that made the edit (something like EDIT: RED-DOG at the start) - it'll save possible confusion.

The rules concerning spam are discussed in this very thread, tehmac even refers to them in his post.
I am at a loss as to why on the one hand some of you say you prefer a moderated forum, and on the other you can't wait to leap on what you seem to perceive as a calculated effort to alienate new members. I am doing what I think is best in the interests of blonde, I don't set out to intentionally insult anyone.
I'm sorry that you don't know me better by now.
Thank you for your tip Andrew, but as it happens both Iron and I edited the post at the same time, and it appears to have short-curcited the automatic thingy that says who did the edit.
For your information Claw, I was in the middle of drafting an explanatory PM to tehmac when I had to stop to answer these questions and accusations.

Ah, that explains everything - it was all Ironside's fault...

hey - I'm not attacking anyone here - just making the point that the comment could have come across as insulting. I know, not from personal experience, but close hand, how upsetting it can be for some people to be labelled 'slow learners'. Perhaps because of that I took the comment with rather more sensitivity than I should - if so, I apologise.
I never suggested that you didn't PM tehmac either Red, and as I said before, but will repeat it, I think you all do a sterling job

Let me put this another way. Imagine you had a job that you did to the best of your ability. Then imagine you had 3814 people watching you do it.
They are not in possession of all of the facts, but they tell you, in public, how it should be done. (in their many individual opinions) Then they move on to do something else, leaving you to finish the job that they have, perhaps unwittingly, made so much more difficult.

Before everyone starts blaming Ironside i'd just like to point out that it did originally say that Red-Dog had edited the post - but then because tehmac then went back and modified something after Red's edit it has taken that "last modified by" now shows tehmac instead.

Red I do not believe that anyone was TELLING you how to moderate, Although a few suggestions are always good to keep things ship shape.
I knnow the mods to a great job yourself included but when I read the comment i though you were upset about something as that sort of comment is just out of character for you in particular red, perhaps a smiley would have helped?
The guy made a booboo, he admitted it, he was just sharing something we could relate to and find funny.

I think the trouble is that online you can't see a twinkle in someone's eye or a smile on their face or hear their tone of voice. For Red I imagine it's even harder, because he's such a good writer people are going to give him less leeway for accidentally writing something (in haste or while multitabling or on tilt after a huge outdraw etc) that may possibly come across badly to some people.
Everyone knows for example that I'm a complete moron who can't write proper so I could probably write the exact same thing as Red and cause no offense whatsoever. I have read some stuff that I thought was quite cutting by some posters then met them in real life and realised that there's no way they meant it in the way I took it to mean, it was my lack of understanding what i was reading.
Anyway this proves that I'm a slow learner cos I'm sure I told myself to stay out of the more controversial threads from now on

Yes, I was a little annoyed! I deleted a spammy thread last night, I did it while I was busy with several other things. Never the less, I was questioned by the members and I had to take the time to answer their questions. Then, today (when I am also busy) he reads about the reasons for deletion, and promptly posts it again.
