I fear that if your request was a genuine one then you've just picked the wrong time to ask. The forum has been under attack recently from many people spamming questions like the one you are asking.

what they guys are trying to say is in what why do you think anyone would want to back you?
you ve given no info about your standard of play what you may or maynot have achieved etc.
backers are hard to find especiaslly for an anonymous poster on a poker forum

Mmmmm a tad techy. LOL. As previously mentioned most of the the people on this site are on the lookout for backers, sponsors, free lunches or anything they can get. Please join the back of the queue.
You normally find though that potential backers are a bit reluctant to stake people they don't know from Adam.

His initial question seems to be of a hypothetical nature, enquiring as to how one goes about finding a financial backer, Hes asking how you get backed, not to be backed! theres a BIG difference.
He then goes onto say that he would like to be contacted by anyone that has backed someone before and even though he vaguely eludes to himself being the possible recipient by saying "someone who may be interested" he hasn't touted himself in the usual fashion and seems to me to be genuinely interested in the process of how one gets backed as opposed to just appealing to anyone that may have some doe lying about, expressing an implicit interest in those that have backed before.
I may be completely wrong and it could just be more spam, though i think hes been treated a bit unfairly by those that either haven't bothered to properly read his initial post, possibly as a result of this mornings spam problem, or by those looking to have a go at someone.

fair point..if he/she was serious about the offer then I apologize if I upset him. The spammers are doing my head in.

To be honest this was my first though - hence why i actually put the hello and welcome smileys on my post. I'd rather run the risk of being made to look foolish by not being able to spot a spammer than risk driving a genuine member away from the forum........

one reason i would doubt this is spam is because he puts his name to the thread (clarkey)
but as we have already had the "BIG NAMED" players shouted down for asking for sponorship
or selling part of themselves it is unlikey that anyone joining the forum
without telling us about there record in both live and onoline
would get anything other than a slating
PS
if anyone wants to sponsor me to the tune of £1M for a year i MIGHT even offer to paint my chair in there colours
