unlucky, your opponent's play was as bad as it gets and I doubt if he folds to a river bet.

Only comment is that reraising with suited connectors is not the best play in the world particularly against players who won't fold often - your opponent being in that category.

Would have played it differently PF but looks to me like you played it fine and got UL.

Can only imagine what he thought you were betting with!!

I lead the flop, you really get paid here if he has something like  because he'll dump it in most of the time on the flop. Check/calling doesn't work since you let him see the turn far cheaper than you should.

Huh?

He bets all the way apart from the river when he is beat.

Personally i make a note on this player - calling all the way with 3rd pair on a flushing (then paired board) that he's a big time calling station then take all his chips off him remembering never to try and bluff him once he calls any bet after the flop.

yeah that was my immediate thought , he deliberated for ages before calling on the turn so i had an inkling he may have a hand like AA , KK with the heart .

but ive re raised him PF , continuation/value bet the flop bet 40 BBs on the turn . - WTF can he think he is beating with 10s ??

i could have flat called pre flop but then would i have got action on the flop ? usually id say no , but with this guy i think i would.

then the only other bet is to push in on the turn instead of betting half my stack or maybe pushing in on the river , but i really feel there is a good chance he would have called either bet anyway.

what chance have you got against guys like this ?

You carry on betting when you have the best of it and you carry on checking when you have the worst of it - you carry on playing exactly the same way against players like this and you let the law of averages take care of the rest.
