Who are your club buying/selling?

It seems Liverpool are after Lucas Neill and Daniel Alves but I keep hearing Alves wont come until the summer.

Apparently we might be getting £12m for Crouch? If that happens I guess a striker will be coming in as well but to be honest I cant see Benitez letting him go until the summer.

i thought about doing a thread like this a couple of days ago, i like it when the window opens, all the gossip going around.

if liverpool get £12m for crouch whoever buys him will be bigger mugs than liverpool who forked out £7m for him.

Going back to who i think arsenal will buy. Wenger has said that he wont buy but he has said that for the last 2 january windows and he signed Reyes and Walcott.

I dont think many major dealings will happen this january with many teams, maybe chelsea.

I have heard that they might try to sign nesta from milan. Milan are after Lazio's captain who is a centre half and would take shevchenko back as part of the deal.

I know you probably wont but do you think Arsenal should buy anyone?

yeah, of course i do.

im not sure who is going to be avalible, i would like to see us buy a left back, a centre midfielder maybe a wide player and if you wouldve asked me 4-6 weeks ago i wouldve said another striker.

A left back because although i think clichy is good i would like to see either the young lads from either wigan or southampton sign.

A centre midfielder because i think we need 1 more to go with fabregas and gilberto, although saying that flamini has been very good lately when he has come in.

A wide player maybe SWP. i read today that the club have told Ljungberg he can go. TBH he is not the same player he was 2/3 years ago, along with the fact we have also lost Pires and Reyes i think that SWP would also add to the pace we have lost.

Another striker? like i said im not sure anymore. it looked like we relied too much on TH. I think his injury has been a bleesing in disguise. It has really bought the best out in Van Persie(whi i think will be special) and Adebayor who now looks like another great signing by wenger. If we did buy another striker i would like to see a world class name, maybe torres.

what about yourself? who do you think liverpool should buy? what positions do you think they need to improve?

It's easy for us.

The right hand side and up front.

On the left we have Warnock, Riise, Aurelio, Gonzales, Kewell, Zenden (centre also)

On the right we have Finnan and Pennant (Gerrard also)

We need a right back/right midfielder which Alves does well at in either position. Neill is also a decent full back on either side.

Up front we need a goal machine. We've not had one since Owen left. I think Kuyt and Bellamy were good signings but we still miss something that Crouch does not give us.

The only thing is whether Benitez will wait for the takeover to go for "more proven" names. I think Alves will come either way though. I like the look of him.

With Agger coming through well and Sissoko to come back from injury I think our central defence and midfield is only going to get better.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dudek go and Carson come back into the fold though.

I dont think there is enough room on the thread for Newcastle's needs!

The trouble with buying now is we'll get shafted even more than we do in the summer's.

My preferences::

1) A left Back. Baba just isnt good enough and is never fit. Not sure who we could get. Bridge is now on 90k and seems happy to be a bit part player.
2) A centre back. Not sure how long Bramble, Moore & Ramage are out for but Huntington is not good enough (Probably never will be)
3) A striker, Antione's got no legs though has done well.

no doubt instead we'll spend the money on someone we dont need like SWP.

We signed a tubby little ball of Scouse called Danny Cadamateri, a free agent after a six months drugs ban. Scored against Fulham yesterday though, looks to have some natural talent to go along with his beer belly

Elsewhere I expect we will look at major signings in about 2015 or later as apparently Manadric is on the verge of pulling out cos our books are shot to bits in terms of credibility

With not a penny to spend therefore I'll expect we'll be scouring the Conference North for raw talent.

Not happy times at the Crisp Bowl...

Its nice to see Sheff Utd keep nicking all of Leeds Utd's best players, its a nice reversal from the last 80 years with such legends as Currie, Sabella,Edwards and Deane going the other way.....tho we did paye 500k for Vinny Jones at one stage.......100k for his footballing skills and 400k to get the other players to improve..

As you may know I play poker with Calum Davenport

he tells me that he has been offered to Watford with Routledge in exchange for Young..Ashley Young is it?

and that Curbishley would like to sign him, but Jol wants Anton Ferdinand for Davenport plus cash

Either way, Calum is surplus at Spurs

In the last transfer window Wenger actually brought in Diaby, Adebayor and Walcott, although he has always said that he prefers to do his dealings in the summer months.

I think the fact that there was going to be a World Cup last summer thus giving him less time to manoeuvre was the reason behind that, although I do think he would move for a top-class left back if one were available. We do have an outstanding 16 year-old LB in Armand Traore, but he is realistically a good year away from giving Clichy serious competition for the first team slot.

When everyone is fit at Arsenal - i do not think we need much more.

against Sheff Utd we had 10 first teamers out - but now we have really just Gallas and Freddy.

Even Diaby is making his long awaited return tonite.

Also we have kids coming through.  Im a bit upset that we let Stokes go to Sunderland.  However if anyone else had scored 14 goals for Falkirk no Arsenal fan would care.  But i would have liked him to go on loan for another year to see if he does have it in the Championship.  Looks like Lupoli will stay at Derby or go back to Italy and with Alliadiere not good enough, I think we need a 4th striker but we prob can wait till the summer.  Need to see what is happening with Bendtner and whether Birmingham try to sign him

One might argue we need an extra midfielder maybe out wide - but with Gilberto, Cesc, Hleb, Rosicky, Walcott (for the moment until he is strong enough to play up top) Freddy, Diaby, Flamini, and even potentially Denilson and Song (yes i know he had a mare at Fulham as i was there but he prob still deserves another chance) thats a lot of players fighting for 4 places.

One position i wuld like is at left-back.  Clichy is good (a decent french u21 left back) but he is not an international and i think all our first choices should be internationals (he is the only one who isnt).  Not sure what the answer is.  Bale is only famous for his free kicks, ive never seen him play but can he defend at the highest level.  As Karabiner says Traore looks like he could be the future too and hopefully all will get to see him tonight.  We also have Gilbert at Cardiff who looks promising.

Obvioulsy goalkeeper needs to be sorted in the summer if Lehmann holds out for a 2 yr deal.  Personally id like him to accept a 1 yr deal.  I think at that age regardless of whther he is a goalie thats a decent offer.

So for once i can see why Wenger says he doesnt need to sign anyone.  The squad is coming back to full fitness, the kids are maturing nicely and i am hoping that they will start to show the consistency in the 2nd half.  No matter what people say it is still a transaition and i think the future looks very bright.

And in any event - who is there to sign?  If people are talking about £12mill for Crouch then this just sums it all up.  Its a mad world out there and long may Wenger keep picking up bargains.

West Ham are rumoured to have put a £7m bid for Freddie Ljundberg in.

This has got to be a joke!!!

He is 3 months short of 30, a shadow of the player he once was with 1 year left on his contract.

if we got £7m for him it would be the 2nd best business we've done ahead of selling Cygan to Villareal for £2m and just behind the £23 m we got for Le Sulk from Real Madrid!!

I get so confused by values - they seem so arbitrary at times.  In his defence he is the Swedish captain but at a time when they dont really have any great players.
