IBF light-welterweight title
Is that good?
Yes.
In order of when they were brought in the prestige league goes WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO. Although the WBC title is more revered over here as the WBA has always based itself amongst US fighters. I think that's how the WBC came about in the first place.
Hatton was unconvincing for me.

Unconvincing for me too. Although I think a lot of that is due to the fact we are used to seeing him steamroller weak opponents, which obviously he cant do against the better fighters. He won the fight easily enough although for the first time his stamina seemed questionable and he looked as if he was toiling towards the end.

gone are the days of fighting people he can knock out with body punches.
He's still doing the job and his movement is fantastic to watch though. I'm still a fan.
I heard Witter thought Hatton was avoiding him???
why would Hatton want to take a step back to give Witter his shot. Hatton's on his way up, not down. I like to watch witter but hatton would destroy him.

It wasn't a classic performance but it was busy and effective, against a dangerous and very durable opponent. Urango is strong as an ox and won't get knocked out in his career at this weight.
A margin of 11 rounds to 1 on all 3 judges cards seemed generous. I thought Urango won at least 2, maybe 3 rounds but Hatton's never-take-a-backwards-step style goes down well with American judges. In a title fight, though, that's a big margin. Not sure how much more convincing Hatton can be!
Next up should be Castillo in June, which will be a major test for Hatton. Castillo has a brilliant record and had a tough fight himself which he pulled himself through with all his experience.
If Ricky can come through this then he may step back up to 147 to fight sugar shane mosely. Mosely has to fight collazo first, and it will interesting to see how Mosely deals with collazo, who Ricky only just edged out in probably his hardest fight.
Ricky's still the man and should have some great fights to come!

I don't watch much boxing these days but I'd like to see Witter v Hatton. I think their styles would make a great fight and I'd be looking to back Witter. Tzu looked well past his best against Hatton so that performance has IMO been over hyped.
I can't see Hatton fighting Witter tho. His management team wouldn't allow it. Too much to lose.

Hatton is a class above Witter. The fight won't happen either, as it woul dbe a backward step for Ricky who doesn't need the fight.
I've seen Witter put on some shocking displays against mediocre opponents. Against Hatton it would be exciting for the first few rounds when Witter would fancy his chances and try to land a big punch, but once he realises that he's not going to get a second's peace and the marauding Hatton won't give him a second's rest, he'll soon lose the will to go on. No heart.
Good at the level he's fighting at, but I can't see him doing anything special at a truly word level.

I think Hatton's made for Witter. He'd counter all day but you're right, we'll never know coz the fight won't happen.

I spoke to a few boxing peeps at the weigh in and the general concensus was that very little was known about Urango (and this includes the Hatton camp) but they both have the same style.
Most feared Hatton getting cut because of the "stand in the middle and smack the hell out of each other" type of fight it was gonna be.
I thought Hatton was comfortable and in control but i also gave Urango 4 or 5 rounds.
As for stepping back up, well it would be madness for Hatton, he has learned his lesson i think!!!!
Also i believe he wouldn't fight Witter, the only incentive would be money but he is so popular in the states he will be well paid for any fight.
I thought Castillo (and many, many others did) lost his fight.

Collazo is a cracking price to beat Moseley tonight imo.
Glad to see Hatton has ditched the IBF belt rather than face N'Dou which would have been a complete waste of time.
