Bongo have you seen my team ? he is in my top 3 performers now a bowler with Med Batting is a dream, and the Magicians is a place to build a career he will be with me for 10 years should I keep him Smiley but 150K might afford me 3 basic players and I can't help think I need the players rather then the stars at this stage.

I think you could get more than £150k, if you listed high and were patient.

Just spent another £175k strengthening my squad* with a batter and 2 more bowlers.

2 respectables and a proficient, only feeble stamina but should help to bolster my OD squad when I deploy my high stamina players in the FC games.

*for 6 weeks anyway Wink

For the first time in a while I'm playing a team in a friendly from div 6. With next weeks fixtures, i have an astonishing chance to reach the playoffs even tho I'm sitting 7th. 4th and 5th are playing teams in the top 3, and I'm playing 6th... IF I win, I may just squeeze into 4th ( however 4 teams on the same points mean anything is possible!)

i decided to go for a similar ploy this week to see the quality of my trainee bowlers. I've picked a friendly against a team who is also in the division 6 play off picture. I've rested my star all rounder and all my other bowlers and picked my trainee and squad players instead.

I also decided to switch things round with my batters, my usual openers didnt seem to have much confidence so i decided to swap my no 3 and 4 with the openers with the plan being that when 3 and 4 come into bat hopefully we will have got off to a good start and they can ease their way in to gain confidence. My plan didnt work as neither will take much from this game............

The players are off the field for the break between innings.

End of Over 50: 326-0, runrate=6.52
Leary 10-0-75-0
Kirkland* 150 (142 balls)
Abel 170 (158 balls)

On the downside there was a fire earlier in the weekend at monkey which has destroyed quite a bit of the monkey records and files. Early indication is that the ground is fine (though today we are changing in a portacabin to be on the safe side while the surveyor inspects the damage). Hopefully it wont cause too many problems in the push for promotion!

i got hammered by newport lad in a friendly

i think that he would of been worried after his batsmen only put on 185-10 off 44.4 overs
but none of my batsmen put in an innings and i was all out for 54 of 19.4 overs

My team are doing something similar vs Bongo.  Bowled him out for 247, but the batsmen seem content to amble along at a leisurely run-rate.

11 overs left, I'm 166-3 and needing 7.5 an over now.

Jeez, talk about doing precisely what is required!!!!  Look at this for an end to the match....

And that's the end of the match. SheriffsStars won by 6 wickets.
Bigglesthwaite CC   247-10
SheriffsStars   248-4

End of Over 50: 248-4, runrate=4.96
Duncum   10-1-49-1
Mclean*   110 (140 balls)
   29 (21 balls)

49.6    1   Duncum to Mclean
Slower delivery, slogged to the off, extra cover fielding.
49.5    1   Duncum to Van dongen
Vicious cut by Van dongen just beats Robbins's despairing dive at backward point, but is picked up by the fielder on the boundary.
49.4    1   Duncum to Mclean
The ball strays onto middle and leg and Mclean plays it well down to long leg. Single taken.
49.3    1   Duncum to Van dongen
Clipped away to mid wicket for an easy single; Van dongen could play shots like that all day.
49.2    1   Duncum to Mclean
On the front foot, managed to work it around to the deep mid wicket region.
49.1    1   Duncum to Van dongen
Played to the covers for a single. Rotates the strike.

End of Over 49: 242-4, runrate=4.94, reqrunrate=6.00 (247-10)
Sabata   10-2-56-1
Van dongen*   26 (18 balls)
Mclean   107 (137 balls)
Last Wicket: Marriott c. Jennings b. Duncum 15 (FOW: 198/4)
48.6    1   Sabata to Van dongen
A big outside edge flies at a rate of knots over first slip's head and is fielded by third man. One is added to the total.
48.5    1   Sabata to Mclean
        Runs it to third man.
48.4    1   Sabata to Van dongen
Bit of lift, flicked around to deep square leg for the single.
48.3    1   Sabata to Mclean
Turned off the hips, they'll jog through for the single.
48.2    1   Sabata to Van dongen
Steered to deep third man and an easy single taken.
48.1    1   Sabata to Mclean
Fended away the short ball. No fielder at short leg so they take an easy single.

End of Over 48: 236-4, runrate=4.92, reqrunrate=6.00 (247-10)
Duncum   9-1-43-1
Mclean*   104 (134 balls)
Van dongen   23 (15 balls)

Everything the Monkey's do seems to turn to gold at the mo!!

Re: My friendly

Had them 48-2 all was hunky dory before going to watch the footy

they finished on 328-3...with ALL of my bowlers going for more than a run a ball

I then managed to reply with an ENORMOUS 69 all out, containing 5 ducks and 5 single figure scores

All depressing really

unfortunately not Sad

On the downside there was a fire earlier in the weekend at monkey which has destroyed quite a bit of the monkey records and files. Early indication is that the ground is fine (though today we are changing in a portacabin to be on the safe side while the surveyor inspects the damage). Hopefully it wont cause too many problems in the push for promotion!

it appears as though the fire has destroyed all of my training and scout files, thankfully i have a good team here at the monkeys so it shouldn't be long before we get things back ship shape and up to date!

(the screen on my laptop went yesterday and i cant get in to save any of my battrick files to disc. my machine has been recalled which means chances are i'll lose everything on my hard drive - most of important pictures backed up but none of the battrick aids, ho hum. thankfully i have an old laptop still so i can play one table of poker and post on blonde!! Cheesy)

On the plus side i reckon i've found my opening partnership for the first part of next season with able scoring just short of 300 runs from the number 1 spot this weekend. Of my bowlers which is what i wanted to look at i pretty much got what i expected. my two squad bowlers returned figures of 2 for 28 and 1 for 34 where as my trainees returned figures of 1 for 64, 2 for 62 and 3 for 69. They will be good maybe by end of next season being rotated in nets but need to work on consistency, my trainee all rounder got 3 wickets and when i get his batting upto proficient at the start of next season he may get first crack at trying to get into the first team.

With FC games to come they all need to work on fitness but then we'll see how things go in the next few weeks.

I only have a few problems to sort for next season

I am very comfortable with my positions 4 through 7 in my batting line up, however I am REALLY struggling with opening pair and no 3.

Oh yeah.. and the small matter of 4 bowlers who can actually take wickets!

I have tried several bowling permutations and orders, as well as differing aggressions but so far nothings worked. So may sell the lot!

how long does it take to change pitch type? is it the same time regardless or does it depend if you are going from one extreme to another?

Not 100% true.

You'll need to study the changes yourself to find out exactly how it works though. I haven't done that yet!

Nice job mate, your bowler, Paki (that's his name!), looked very good. I think people will have to think carefully before picking a dusty pitch against you in future!
