Hi folks, my car tax should have been paid a couple of days ago, but when I went to the post office, I realised that I didn't have my log book. I searched my room from top to bottom but it's nowhere to be seen. They didn't send me a reminded either so I can't use that. Any idea what I should do or what the next step is. How much is this going to cost me? Thx in advance.

Apparently you can do it online now. Might be worth checking out?

Think all you need to do snoops is fill in a form at the post office (V10 i think) and submit it with your road tax renewal. Not sure if it costs an extra tenner or so and i think the DVLA will then send a new reg document.

Sure someone will come along shortly and give you absolute picture. Some of the car dealers on here will know for certain.

Online is the way to go snoops   forget the post office  you will need your MOT cert if it is one of the new ones.

if you are late getting new tax (few days ) they just charge the difference  you sjouldnt get a fine

I had to go to the one in Wimbledon once. Went in clean shaven, came out with a ZZ Top beard. Never again.

Thx for the offer, that's very kind of you, would give me a chance to finally give you that money (that I haven't forgotten about, honest!).

I need to think about this one for a moment, my log book is definitely lost, but there's a chance i cn find the renwal letter.

If I find the renewal letter, is that definitely all I need.

Boy, I hate things like these. Last year just be4 Copenhagen I realsied that my passport was out of date and so had to go to Liverpool to renew it at the crack of dawn. Not fun at all.
