we had this problem a few years back- i aquired a recording of the Handels Hallelujah chorus from the messiah- played it at full volume as they finnished- seemed to do the trick

What about combining both, get a dozen of your pals around a few beers and a game of poker before the main event. Then at the final thrusts Hallelujah at full blast for 15 seconds and a massive round of applause, got to be worth it just for the entertainment value!!!
