I am on the following antepost at various odds

Jaxerback
Loyal Honcho
Express Comet
Farloe Black
Astronomic
Tyrur Lee

on the basis that there is a wide and unjustified spread in the value available on a lot of the decent Irish dogs, and a lot of the favourites look too short to me, with some questionmarks. A couple have come in significantly since i backed them due to good trials, especially Comet and Farloe Black, but I reckon there is still probably some mileage in this approach.

I am also on these 2 a bit, just for fun. no theory.

Larkhill Jim
Calzaghe Boyo

I am very far from an expert on dogracing though so please don't put too much store in these thoughts if you might have, it should give me an interest for the next few weeks though hopefully, possibly with a view to a bit of trading on betfair as things go on.

Be interested to know what anyone else has gone for. Good luck all.

I love greyhound racing and have done for many years now. When I first started going my Saturday nights used to regularly start with the early meeting at Stamford Bridge (5.45pm 1st race), followed by piling into taxis six at a time at the end of racing to White City where you could just catch the last three or four races for half price admission.

Anyhow I put all that experience to good use this year when a puppy that caught my eye in January or February in a televised race and I had a few quid on him @ 300/1 on Betfair.

Meenala Cruiser, currently quite well fancied at around 25/1 after doing the clock at Sunderland a week or so back.

Unfortunately it was literally a few quid as that was all that was available, but he is an improving  puppy and  I've certainly had my money's worth already. Good looking draw in round one too, I just wish these heats were televised.

Go on my cocker

Belly, just to let you know we purchased Trade Plate tonight for £20k plus of a large advert in the Racing Post today. All being well, and if he passes the vet tommorrow in Ireland he will run(albeit under the name of my Irish Uncle as NGRC RULES dont allow a transfer so close to a comp) for us this week. We had tried to buy him last year for a much larger sum but they would not sell.

nice one mick.

looking at its shelbourne times it has a bit to find on some of the other irish entries but i can only see 2 lines of form there so may have better before that.
decent 28.90 first look at the track should improve further. looks ideal derby type, one to get through a few rounds as it looks like he stays well.

early pace inside him in the first round , hopefully slip round behind unscathed and outstay the 5 dog.

good luck mate

I agree with your comments mate especially the one about him staying. The Irish Derby is the Main aim with the 550yrd distance but he might stay further. Surprised he was not tried over a distance sooner, but John Tuohy has now become a very respectable breeder so that explains it. Irish breeders wont use stayers.
