Players like Kuyt never get Kudos because they're solid rather than spectacular.
Kuyt is to football what Tikay is to poker.

I've read that 18 times now, and not sure if it's an insult or a compliment to Kuyt...

Kin - Lets not get carried away here , Kuyt is not immense, hes a decent , solid grafter type player but he aint immense, Its heartwarming to see the effort he puts in and how he never stops running it really is, i admire him for that, but imo he aint good enough to get sole possesion of the right wing spot on our team and be almost immune from being rested or rotated or dropped its like Rafa is just being stubborn at times. If we sign Maxi then he would be getting Dirks spot if i was picking the team. To me a winger should be beating players and getting crosses in from the byeline not making sure he tracks back to help the defence. In an ideal world we would sign Lennon or Ashley young or someone of that ilk.

He's scored more and got more assists than either of them over the past few seasons. Plus the other stuff he does.

For our team, yes. Hasn't he shown his value, or would you prefer someone who does fancy step-overs?
So other than scoring goals and getting assists, doing his defensive duties well, running for 90 minutes+, hardly ever getting injured, etc., he does nothing for us, so I agree - let's sell him. Same discussion we've had before about Carragher. There are more technically gifted, faster, taller, etc., defenders around - but I wouldn't swap Carragher for the world. Same goes for Kuyt. It would need a truly remarkable player to take his place in the side, and there are other positions that need attention way before right-mid.
All imo of course.

I'll back you up Maldini, i would like to see Babel given a run up front , a few games in a row and if he didnt play well then I'd be shipping him out. If were being honest could he really have contributed much less on the wing instead of Kuyt this season?
Thought I heard Andy Gray (of all people) say Kuyt and Benayoun were staistically the two most productive wide midfielders in the EPL this season with 5 a piece.
Stats schmats! I'm not a Kuyt hater at all, he just seems to be giving it away an awful lot lately ball is just bouncing off him, and with him and benayoun playing the wings theres a severe lack of pace there, it would be nice to have pace on one side at least and i prefer Benayoun of the two , we are missing Riera too i think when we played our best stuff last season Riera was at the hub of it.Although Riera isnt brill or anything it was just the fact that he hugged the sideline and had pace that helped our formation.
Agree. The stats do hide how badly those two are playing at the moment.
Wow - Kuyt has 3 or 4 average games and is suddenly worse than Babel (I know you're not saying that Aaron).
Kuyt has been Mr Dependable for the past few seasons, and when Liverpool go on a bad run it's suddenly all his fault. When we do well, it's never down to him. When Riera was mentioned as a loss, it's so very true in more ways than one. With him on the right offering width, the attack down the right seems to work a lot better. Rafa stated this as much when he brought Riera in.
If you think Babel divides Liverpool fans, he has nothing on Kuyt. I really can't understand what game they watch, and they most certainly don't watch live. Kuyt is immense. Oh and please, even jesting that Babel could offer anything on the right in the way Kuyt does is ridiculous.
No no, not at all but when both wide men are playing badly and Riera is injured I want Babel to be given some minutes. Rafa sees them in training every day though so I'll trust his judgement but I think it has more to do with what they offer defensively considering our defensive issues right now rather than Babel not training well or having the wrong attitude etc.

Disagreeing here.
Last season out of Europe's big leagues the goals and assist chart for midfielders went Lampard, Mata, Kuyt (very similar assists and goals to Lampard with similar minutes on the pitch
without penalties
- iirc Mata's stats were the best per minutes played by a long way). If Kuyt was English etc etc...
What I am saying is his form is bad and he should be rotated right now but the guy is "immense" imo.

Ok Kin and Baron looks like yous both disagree with me on the whole Kuyt situation, I respect both of your opinions so i will not argue anymore, just agree to disagree.

I read £4.5mil. You'd pay £2.5mil just for the week he had when he played Man U and Real wouldn't you?
