They've done well with the Red Sox. One journalist for the Boston Globe said yesterday that the stadium won't be the biggest thing. These guys are REALLY good at marketing a club and that's where most of the new money will come from.

they also invest a lot in youth development so that's always good to hear, I guess. (But they are not shy about spending a few quid on proper players)

Should be interesting but I reckon Liverpool supporters might have to wait a few years before seeing any results...this is not some Russian Gazillionaire or Saudi Prince buying the club and spending 200mill immediately. These guys seem to be more interested in building the club up properly, ensuring the club always makes money and building success slowly but surely. (IOW the proper way to do it)

Funnily enough, I think the fact they're not a billionaire sugar-daddy sits well with most of the fans.  Seems like the 'right way' to do it.  Of course, the same fans wouldn't be complaining if Mr Billions had bought the club and was ploughing loads into it.

Like you say, it might take some time.  We've waited twenty-odd years, so can wait a bit longer Cheesy

hmmm,,,daily mesh thing a bit OTT..and all the jokes have been done before really.

Can anyone explain to me how this works BTW?

How can H&G have signed a contract/a clause agreeing that they won't have a say in the club if they own it?

Surely I don't tell my neighbour it's OK for him to sell my house if he thinks he can get a good deal for it?

It's pretty brilliant isn't it?  (The situation with Broughton, not the dailymash thing - which was pretty average for them).

Broughton was brought in to facilitate the sale of the club.  His mandate was to find a buyer who is primarily in the best interests of the club, and secondly will give G&H the most return on their investment.  As the deadline (for RBS to call in the debt) is approaching, and no buyer has come forward that meets both criteria, he has to go with one that meets the first one.

The fact that Broughton demanded the clauses he did, and G&H agreed to them really is remarkable.  G&H can't oppose a legitimate sale (although that's what they seem to be trying to do) and they can't change the board, only Broughton can do that (but G&H seem to be trying to do that as well).

From G&H's side though, what else are they going to get from it?  If the sale doesn't go through due to their legal actions, it's going to end up in the hands of RBS - and they still get nothing.  Not sure what they're trying to achieve.

I'm sure someone with a greater understanding of corporate workings will be able to explain it in more detail, and probably correct me on some of my understanding of the situation.

Thats my understanding on the situation too.

I assume because they have less games in the Prem.

9 points is the same as 10 when you play 10%ish less games.

Thinking about it, it probably should be 8.

Yeh i guess thats the reasoning behind it. I like the 9 point penalty as it translate into 3 wins but based on that the Football League punishment should be 12 points which is also luckily divisible by 3.

What exactly have they done to merit videos such as the one above?

Maybe someone who is closer to the issue can explain?

You spent 17m on Aquilani last season and haven't sold any huge players except maybe Mascherano (but i don't rate him highly) and Alonso (was an amazing price).

I know they promised to deliver a stadium but if they did all that would happen is that they would get "wearshhh our khhhop' thissshhh shtadium hash no passion''.

Oh man the list is endless.

With regard to transfers it's been a joke tbh. The income versus expenditure has been ridic for the last 4 windows. The money from the sales you mention has miraculously disappeared. As has the money from other sales of good squad players like Riera, Benayoun, Arbeloa etc

With the stadium they were on their way to getting it right. They had acoustic engineers design the new kop (a 19,000 one tier wall of fans) and everything. The only problem was they couldn't actually afford one. (£70m spent on a stadium so far but where has this actually gone?)

liverpool didnt have to sell in the first place!

There are many ways of ensuring new owners perform pre sale, and erm...... none post sale, clearly the sight of H&G wafting money around the place got everyone a little over excited.

This, is a story of greed on both sides of the coin im afraid.

If there are enough die hard Liverpools fans who believe what they say (there are certainly enough fans), make a movement to buy the club, because it is the only way you will ever be happy. You werent happy when a local liverpool business man owned the club, because some wealthy americans were waving wads of dollars under your dreamy eyes.

I have also never heard of H&G asking for players to be sold, nor have they been overly tight in the transfer market. So blaming them for your poor managers decisions and on pitch performances is, well....... you decide.

Lol pretty inaccurate post.

Made money on transfers but hasn't the wage bill gone from 60mil to 100mil?

Yes but this is only catching us up with the other EPL front runners. Commercial reneue has increased more than enough to cover this.
