Hatton on points. It is crazy that it is only June and already we have a sports personality of the year set in stone. Regardless of what Hatton does this year or even Murry destroying Federer at Wimbledon, Hamilton is already the winner. I had a feeling that it would be Hatton this year for some reason.
He's not on terrestrial TV. That's a big problem.

I do have a question though. Why's it on Setanta and not Sky?
Setanta have been buying up the rights to just about everything that moves recently. Piss poor quality in comparison to sky though imo. I'm guessing $$ is the reason for it. Yeah, they'll have paid more for it. It also explains why this thread is the first I've heard about the fight - there's been sod all publicity or buzz about this, when compared to Calzaghe's last fight. I don't see how Setanta is sustainable in the UK. They've bought the rights to some of the footy; they've picked out some decent bouts, and probably some other random events. But the majority of sports fans are going to stick with Sky - and resign themselves to the fact that they're going to miss the odd fight or match. They're just not going to reach the critical mass they need. I'm certainly not going to sign up just for the Hatton fight. Not that £15 is extortionate, but just because I can't be arsed. tbh I thought that when they first won the rights to show the SPL and I wouldn't have been surprised had it gone tits up in the first season. I subscribe to it basically because they have Scottish football and thats the only thing I think I've ever watched on it. On the face of it they appear to be going from strength to strength what with winning the rights to the PGA tour and rights to some Premiership games etc, however it wouldn't be a total shock to wake up one morning and find out that things aren't quite as rosy as the appear.

They have operations outside the UK - and I guess this means that they aren't solely reliant on the UK market (although long-term they'll want to operate at a profit here obviously).
It's certainly not going to be easy for them. I hope they can put pressure on Murdoch's Sky empire and virtual monopoly (in England at least) of sport on TV. It's already made some difference with the rights to certain games meaning Sky can no longer offer a PPV offering for football (no more PremPlus). It might also mean that for bouts Sky does show in the future, they might be included in the Sky Sports package, and not attract an additional 'Box Office' cost.
Competition 'should' be a good thing for the consumer. We'll have to wait and see. At the moment it means people are missing out on one thing or another unless they get both Sky and Setanta sports packages. I doubt that the majority will do that at the current prices.

Just realised the fight is included in the regular Setanta sports package - so no extra cost to watch it. Could be a late night tomorrow!

If it becomes a brawl I can see Hatton losing this one. Hatton needs to box clever.

Absolutely brilliant.
It's a long tine since Hatton's KOd someone with a left hook to the bady. He used to do it alot in his early fights but as opponents have got tougher he's had a harder time getting the knockdown from it.
Cotto would be a good fight but if De La Hoya or Mayweather is on the table I think Cotto could be put off.
SPOTY?

Cotto is the fight I'd like to see though.
Hatton had the intensity back that he showed against Tszyu and overwhelmed Castillo. I'm not overly convinced that Castillo had much left (definetly not a top 10 p4p as Ricky stated after the fight) but he dealt with him in devastating fashion and the finishing punch was a peach. There are now some big paydays out there for him against the likes of Cotto, PBF, DLH or even Moseley although he going to have to step up to welterweight to make them happen.

Maybe the next fight will be at the City of Manchester stadium. I would be first in the queue for tickets.

Does any body know if there's a way for me to watch a re run of the fight online?
Or perhaps know if there's a torrent site to snatch it from?
