Just watched Autumnwatch. That's the sort of programme that makes TV worthwhile. Sheer excellence.

Not entirely sure I enjoyed the spectacle, as the credits rolled, of Chris Packham anal rubbing Michela Strachan though.

He's back, doing what he does best.

Boy, freedom must taste good after he's been locked up all those years.

Watched one of the weirdest - & most refreshing - TV programmes ever last night.

It's a bus journey (yup, a bus journey) through the Yorkshire Dales, from Richmond to Ingleton.

It is an hour long. No commentary. No background music. Just views of the Yorkshire Dales as the bus trundles along. For an hour.

Apparently, it is called "Slow TV", & when it was first broadcast, it attracted over a million viewers.

God bless the BBC for trying these different, nom-mainstream, ideas.

Here you go.

There was a rich harvest of quality TV programming on BBC Four last night.

Before the Bus Ride thing, there was a beautifully filmed documentary about Megan Boyd. Who?

Love reading about these sort of people. Unsung heroes? Just a bit.

Finally, before we turn away from BBC Four, last night saw the last of a 10 episode serial about the Vietnam War.

It was the best war documentary I've ever seen.

It's a sobering thought that such a senseless war cost so many lives.

Even if we conveniently ignore the 3 million North & South Vietnamese military & civilian deaths, 58,000 American soldiers died in that war. For context, 3,000 or so died in 9/11.

The 10 part series ended with some material about the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington. Sobering stuff.

Amazing the stuff that pops up if you surf Wikipidea. Love that site to bits.

Do you remember Hulk Hogan?

When Sky TV first began, American Wrestling was a mainstay.

Hulk Hogan was the big star, he was a goodie. Every week, he'd be thrashed to within an inch of his life, & then, miraculously & suddenly, turn the tables & win the "fight".

We all knew how it would end, but, for a while anyway, it & he were immensely popular.

So there I was, surfing Wiki, & I came across a Wiki page entitled Bollea v Gawker.

And guess who Terry Gene Bollea is?

Yup, Hulk Hogan.

And Gawker? That's a website.

And Garker published a "sex tape" showing Bollea - that's Hulk Hogan to you & me - in "intimate scenes".

So Hulk - sorry, Bollea - sued Gawker.

Guess how much he was awarded?

$155 million.

After some toing & froing, that was reduced to a still incredible $30 milly. And Gawker went busto.

All of which may have you yawning. I jut love discovering this sort of stuff.
