We did no good Downtown yesterday in the $125 PLO8.

Was definitely not on my A-Game, was far too ill-disciplined early with silly calls.

I eventually got myself right back in it with a lovely 3 way scoopio, then dusted them off again, & was back to 10 Bigs.

I was determined to cash, & really focussed from then on, & I went on a tremendous spin-fest which lasted over 2 hours.

I had been card & spot dead for hours, then got moved to another Table.

Very first I was UTG, & EVERY player limped, with the Blinds at a fairly big 400-800. So you know what happened next, I never even looked, & EVERY player sheepishly folded.

I am in the BB next hand, 6 limpers this time, AND I had a good spinning hand (A-K-2-4), so in they went again, same result.

Am SB next hand, & amazingly........same thing.

Loving life now, & got a playable stack again. Sit there for half an orbit, & then, amazingly, I get another Table Move (cries of HIT AND RUN ENGLISHMAN) - back to the exact same table & seat I had just left.

This table had a LOT of gamble in it, an any 4 cards affair, I found a nice hand & although I managed to iso the biggest gambler of the lot, he called me with his Snap-On Kit & got there with 2 pairs - 2's & 4's, & I was back down to 10 Bigs.

So it was spinfest time again, & I was finding really good spinning material, & I went for it again & again, it was so much fun. It was THE perfect Table for spinning, as one guy with a monster stack Raised EVERY hand pre, so we had the necessary leverage to get everyone else out of the way & go for it.

Built up to 20 Bigs after several attempts & numerous splits/three quarters, & was about to settle down & play properly, when greed got the better of me, & when Mr Gamble raised my BB yet again, I could not resist getting it in.

We had near identical hands, my hand was A-K-2-3, his was A-Q-2-5, the flop was K-8-5, YES!, I had him crushed BOTH ends, but PLO8 is a weird game, & the 5 paired on the river & no Low came, & he got the lot. It WAS the perfect spot for me, but I did not need to do it there & then.

Tremendous fun, but came up short, in 17th of 73.

Was very card dead - spinning hands excepted, & I don't like to spin until the Blinds get big & we can iso.

In the whole 9 hours, I only had A-A-x-x once, & they were really bad Aces. Don't know the maths, but we should get Aces a lot more than that in 9 hours of 4 card play. The way the hand played, & stack sizes at the time, meant there was no point even raising with them as I could not get anyone off the pot, so I just call-folded. Bad Aces 4 way is not to be advised......

Cliffs - we losted.

There was a drunkard on the Table who was a perfect pain throughout. Invitably it was he who busted me, though to be fair, he had much the better hand going in, & it held.

Got some photos of some of my Vegas PLO8 friends, will stick them up here later, &/or in my Blog next door.

BIG one today, The Venetian $1,100 O8, at 4pm.

PLan is to write & Upload a Blog for next door, try & answer a few of the Posts on here (sorry for delay), then go grab a couple of hours kip before the 4pm start.

My only concern with the $1,100 O8 @ Venetiian is the field size. The $1,500 WSOP version got 933, the $3,000 version 435, so it would be nice to think that Venetian $1,100 would get 100 or more, but I do fear a small field. The Venetian Big 0 a few days ago eventually struggled to get 70 odd.

I MAY decide not to play if the field is too small. 50 would be the very minimum acceptable, I suppose. It also depends who turns up. There IS some incredible value in some of these O8 things, but if the field is just all the Big Guns, & only 50 or so runners, I'm not sure it would be a good idea to play it.

Will let you know later, when I see how the land lies. If I decide to swerve, I'll play a session of Big O cash, but that will have to be "off-stake", as there is no way of verifying or validating cash game profits or losses.

Really keen not to dust off our profits lightly, which is deffo in the back of my mind, too. But if that Venetian thing gets a decent sized field, then we might just have a good sweat. If we can get seMANTIC to rev me up again, I might get get that mood on me to do that rip new arsehole thing again.

BE AFRAID.

I don't think you need worry about the Venetian getting less than 50.  The Big O must have got 80, and it must be a less popular game.  It started with only 30 or so, but built to 80.  I'd have been in but the flight beckons.

That is encouraging, then.

Oooh, excited!

The Palazzo Poker Room, where this is held, is a somewhat oddly-located room, hidden away at the back, behind a bar, & accessed through a nondescript entrance. But it is fine, nice & quiet in there, with a reasonable amount of room to wander around.

I have to have a wander every now & then, I seem incapable of just sitting there for hours on end. When I was working, I did MBWA, & I suppose it stems from that, plus, perhaps, being a bit hyper.

There are so many poker rooms, especially in the UK, where the Tables are all scrunged up together, (Luton is a shining exception) & I get a bit claustrophobic in such situations. Almost all the Vegas rooms have plenty of wander room though, which I really like.

At the Nugget, when I played the PLO8/PLO mixed game, I could wander 100 yards to a Starbucks & get me a latte & a sticky bun during the PLO rounds. Does life get better than that?

Unless the game plays rather differently in the US, I'm not sure how you managed that manoeuvre sitting UTG.

Wrote that pretty badly wrong......

You're spending too much time perving over tennis players and too little time on your hand analysis imo.

Only 43 runners when I arrived.

Refuse to enter, not having that. Not like I am addicted to the game, I can take it or leave it.

Fairly short field, so decided to change tactics somewhat today, and be much more aggressive.

Had decent hands first orbit, raised, all folded like good little children.
