Further rules, intended to level the playing field between the recreational players and the professionals, include a prohibition on sunglasses, hats and hoodies. Players will not be allowed to cover any part of their body from the neck up. Furthermore, players in the final nine will be required to wear a formal suit for the final day’s play.

Splendid.

Oooh, I DO like that.

I would doubt it's enforceable, (or even true?) but it would be thoroughly wholesome to see players dressed suitably for a big occasion.

It’ll be interesting to see if they enforce the dress code. I was fortunate enough to report on the €1M buy-in Big One for One Drop back in October 2016, which was held in the Casino de Monte-Carlo. The final eight were all asked to wear black tie, which would be provided by a local tailor free of charge. As you can see from the photo, only four of the eight finalists obliged.

Morning Nick, hope you are keeping well. How are things with 'Stars? Have to keep reminding myself I work for them now too. Wink

Dress standards? Hmm.

Think "black tie" might be a little over the top, but it's a step in the right direction.

Here's the 2015 November Nine, a fairly typical assemblage of rags tags & bobtails, where exactly one player has made an effort.

If poker wants to attract mainstream sponsors, & the money they bring to the table, then players need to make a little effort. In almost every mainstream sport or recreation which gets extensive media coverage, the participants present themselves properly.

Bit rushed this morning, so very brief update.

Am all set to play the $1,100 PLO8 @ Venetian today which starts at 5.10pm local.

Gill is flying in today, & her flight is 45 minutes early, so unless an unexpected problem arises, or she is unwell after the long flight, I'm all set to go pokering.

I've been flat out getting ready for Gill's arrival. Flowers, theatre tickets, a celebration cake, & a few other bits & bobs. can't wait to see her, I'm missing her very much.

I'm off to collect the cake from the specialist bakery on West Flamingo now, place it in the room ready to surprise her, then dash to the airport to watch her plane land.  There's a viewing area right by the runway, & I stand and wave as the plane lands.  In fact I stand & wave two flourescent t-shirts to help her see me better.

Can't make this nonsense up you know.

Not just the players, tikay.

Crucible final afternoon session spectators' dress code should be lounge suits. Evening session black tie.

Football shirts and "where's the cue ball going?" T-shirt wearers should be invited to reconsider.

Had a vision of you preparing for serious poker comp and it was like Rocky preparing for a fight. Don an old tracksuit and hit the streets for gruelling 5k run, sprint up the steps, light bag work, ice bath. In reality it’s all of a dither buying flowers, chocs and baking apple pie. Eye of the tiger...let’s gogogo!!!

That's one of the biggest loads of bollox I've ever seen you pen.

Have you forgotten that poker-players are playing with and for their own money.

Hi Tony,
Good luck in the PLO8, am really looking forward to playing the $1500 WSOP PLO8 when I get back to Vegas.
Hope Gill arrives ok and is pleasantly surprised with the cake and other nice things you have planned.
I have arrived in Cincinnati after losing three hours on the plane journey, only to find it some ten to fifteen degrees cooler than Vegas and raining. The forecast this weekend is for thunderstorms. Not good for watching baseball, definitely not good for someone who didn’t pack a jacket for his holiday.
Hoping to read tales of daring and rippage ,  as you plunder the chips at that very pleasant card room in the Venetian.

Seat 5 in an 8 Max affair - that's pole position IMO. No excuses about inability to see the board from there.

You'll have to turn your head or your device 90 degrees to read that I'm afraid, in the unlikely event its of interest.

Hi Nick,

Glad you arrived safe and sound. Gill arrived ok and was chuffed to bits with the flowers and the cake, but she has yet to discover the theatre tickets. I hide them somewhere easy to find for extra surprise value. We are a pair of soppy soppies.

Well done on the result the other night, must have been a great memory for you. Fingers crossed I get a run at this one tonight.

Hope you enjoyed the Sky Poker hospitality over the last week mate. Seemed to me you were loving life, and I certainly hope that's the case.

Cold in Cincinatti? It's 111f here today. Wayyyyy too warm.

Don't forget we'd like a report on all the MLB games you attend.

Later bud.

PS - remember that provocatively dressed Asian lady who busted Phil and had wheelbarrows full of chips on Tuesday? She's in this, though at first glance she appears to have rather more clothes on tonight.
