Kenny Wong went out 5th when his    ran into Steve's  . Steve from Teeseside tells me he regularly FT's the Stars $100 rebuy so he knows which way is up.

We splashed around a bit until my AK got mullered by Steve's set of eights.

Four hadned we decided to call it a day and chopped it up with slightly more going to the chip leader and second in chips.

I took £10k which should go at least some way to covering my bar bill at the Seattle.

This is the news from brighton,1.1 million in play,8 players left and cl has 600000,he announces to the table"im not interested in the money,just want the trophy i will do a 8 way chop"all 7 others have roughly the same chips and the blinds are huge,all players are very pleased to be offered better than 3rd place money except Pete Singleton,who  says "sorry im a sponsored player and am not allowed to do deals till 3 handed"My mate ronnie with 3bb's says "your a sponsored ****and you must be unintelligent not to accept this offer". Ronnie goes out next for 1800,pete goes 7th for little more and i believe the other 6 have received a nice payday and our millionaire cl has a trophy and pride to polish.Ronnie isnt wishing Pete all the best for the future.

The way you write makes it sound like your mate Ronnie is a hero and Peter, a top player and well respected pro, a bad person for not recognising the moral obligation to do a deal.

The situation on deals is very simple. No player is obliged to do any kind of deal at all, and as soon as one says no, then the potential deal is gone. There is no way in which they have let others down, and definately no way in which they deserve being attacked.

Pete will have had very good reasons for not wanting to deal, not least that he will be more bothered by fighting for position and enjoying the challange of a final table than he will be by thoughts of money, especially after his great result recently. However, whatever his reasons, he does not deserve to be disrespected by people who do not know what they are talking about. By refusing a deal, you take the risk that you will bust out soon, and Pete will have no regrets about the well-judged risk he took.

I was nt implying Peter was a bad person for not dealing,i was implying it was a poor financial decision,Pete had his largest cash of all time very recently[which was nice] however in worldpoker terms it is a relativly small amount,therefore the 6k he lost out on by not dealing is i believe considerable to him,at the time the deal was offered any edge Pete may have had for being a top pro would be diminished almost totally due to the cl having over half the chips in play and the large blinds.
I was nt attacking him and i bet he has plenty of regrets "about the WELL-JUDGED risk he took"[about 6000 of them actually],sorry if you thought i was being harsh.

My twopenceworth in here on Peter's decision...

1) Peter explained politely that he was under an obligation to not do a deal at that point beacuse of his sponsored status.
2) The blinds were still 400/800 and Peter had around 140k chips (hard to be exact as the dealer was a big guy in between Peter and I)

Based  on 1) I don't see how you can say Peter made ANY financial decision never mind a poor one. Also, the little I know of Peter suggests to me that he's not that likely to make poor deal decisions even when he's not representing someone's brand.

Based on 2) Peter had plenty of play left. He got unlucky in a couple of spots and went out - big deal. I can almost guarantee he'd do nothing differently given the same circumstances again. I know I don't have to explain the sizeable edge you give up to the smaller stacks once a deal is done to anyone here.

Finally, the money is important - especially after two days play and expenses but it's not the only or even the most important thing to a lot of players.

Integrity, repect and believing you have played your best are right up there and Peter gets my vote on all three.

Amazing structure at Brighton where the blinds are 400/800 deep into day 2!.I understand as the sponsored player he had obligations but you say"i know i dont have to explain the sizeable edge you give up to the smaller stacks once a deal is done to anyone here" i dont see the relavence of that comment because the deal wasnt to flatten out the top heavy structure it was to chop the whole comp.

Yep - ur right it was 4000/8000.
As to the relevance - you're also right. I didn't hear a suggestion to chop the whole comp though - but thenI was listening to Eminem on full volume at the time so that's no surprise. I only took my earphones out when I realised Peter was talking to the table about some offer. If I had known that was the suggestion I'd have declined too - and I was the shortest stack at the table.

OK,my last post on this matter ,blinds were in actual fact 5000/10000 ronnie had 52000,you tell me you were the shortest stack so im gonna estimate you had 45000,with 8 left and 1 guy with 600000 out of 1.1 million you dont take better than 3rd place money!!. Noel Edmonds' side kick is begging you to come on.

Of course I am disappointed with my result ..I would have liked to have done better.

But..

1) I am not really intrested in splitting comps ...I`m there to win em.

2) I am not wealthy but...I am not down to my last penny... yet.

3) Everybody has different views of what they call value based decisions but, When I make one I am always prepared to live with the consequences...this one being no different.

4) And finally you are relatively new to poker and I respect your opinions and views which may differ from others but what you, your friend Ronnie ( Who isn`t new to poker) and one or two other players need to realise is.... when somebody, for whatever reason says no deal that`s it.. no deal..save your energy, concentrate on playing and.... stop whining on about what might have been.
Given the same circumstances and the options again my decision on the deal would be exactly the same...No thank you.

The Comp itself was once again well structured, Well run and a pleasure to attend.
Congratulations to Guyan and the rest of the team at the Rendezvous Casino on another successful week...Oh and thanks to Paddy Power for the added prize money.

.... when somebody, for whatever reason says no deal that`s it.. no deal..

and this is key...it's very simple really. you can't slag anyone off for not wanting to deal..they paid their money and can't play however they want it.

 Thanks Pete, for you considered reply,I deal too easily,in the future i hope to change that.I asked the previous questions and stated the various facts in such a manner as told from one camp[lets call them the dealers]and was delighted to get responce from the non dealers because it is always helpful when someone of your poker expierience can offer insight into what you consider the right thing to do near the buisness end of a tournament.

The tournament was fantastic, the casino a pleasure and the whole thing was very well run.  Im sorry I didnt get to meet you thistle but I will have someone hunt you out for me so I can say hello next time.

I believe the standard of play on day two was very high with some big poker names playing and  I wish Id stayed now to watch the end.

I spent an hour or so furthering my black jack game with a lovely man called Bill, and whilst I am very disappointed in myself for throwing away my chance at the final table, with my very bad misread/call.    I learnt so much from my second table (end of day one /start of day two) about my game and the distance I have come from my first live game 18 months ago.

Brighton is without doubt one of the nicest casinos in the uk.  Well played to all who made it.
