Good Bits:
- Strachan claims he's the best finisher at Celtic Park.
- He does seem to weigh in with goals when he plays.
- The goals he scores are usually pretty good.
- Scored a lot for Hibs when playing in a team that breaks quickly from defence.
- Considered the goal-getting messiah by a large section of the Celtic support.
Bad Bits:
- Comes across as a bit of a naughty boy - bar fights, court cases etc (just found not guilty of assaulting a bouncer a week or so ago).
- Lightweight, lack of physical strength being probably the main reason Strachan won't play him as a striker when we are facing the massed defences of lower SPL sides.
- Needs to turn young potential into regular achiever (in his defense he's not played enough at Celtic to do that).
I'd actually be quite gutted to see him go.
Never really given a chance by Strachan, strange really considering the effort that was made by Celtic to sign him, however i am led to believe that he recently had a big bust up with Stephen McManus and as 'Mick' is now the captain then there was only ever going to be one result..... the exit door for Derek. Shame really cos when he joined he got rid of his mohican hair style cos he thought it would keep him out of trouble and help him concentrate on his game!!!
He will do well at Leicester as long as he stays away from them dodgy bars/pubs near the ground!!
Hail Hail

Good posts guys and prety much spot on.
Whilst a bit on the slim side he is a bit of a tough young lad. I know his family well and agree that a move away is what is required if nothing else to get away from some bad influences. Trouble is he may not settle down south.
I for one would like to see the lad sort himself out and show everyone how good a striker he can be. Having watched him at Easter Road I believe he is one of the best natural footballers in Scotland.
Good luck to him for whatever he chooses
