But if it's a trip to WSOP / WPT etc.. you need to add on "life experience profit" (I just made that up)  Afro

Actually that is true. Especially for the ones in Aruba/Bahamas. I priced the cost of the hotel I stayed in at The caribbean adventure and it was about $5000 for the week I was there (I believe I met Matt674 there briefly). Add in the brownie points for a luxury holiday supllied to girlfriend who gets to sunbathe in peace while I play poker and it must be worth something in the balance sheet  thumbs up

Yes, i was at the Pokerstars caribbean adventure as well in January, where did our paths cross? (sorry cant reckognize you from your picture its too small!) is your PS name luckyblind as well?

A brief chat in the card room. I think it was during one of the smaller tournaments or a STT maybe. If I remember rightly Purr of Aces was at the table too. Loads of blondes must try and qualify for the 'Blonde Carribean adventure' this year.

Interesting point made about live and online play - people cant get them going well in both at the same time

I made a post about this no so long back.

As for counting winning seats (ie WPT etc...) I feel that you CAN count PART of the win as a win. ie $54 to buy in and you win a $4500 package. Of the package, $1400 is for "expenses" - This part I fell you CAN count as profit, but not the value of the seat won.

Paul most of those expenses go on your costs though. Although you will clearly come out 'ahead' given you only need $54!!

Although when do you start to consider loss of earnings?Huh?

I found this out a few years back when i started playing on pokerstars when my "live" strategy didnt seem to work as well onlline. After a few months of watching some of the other players i realized the changes i'd have to make to make playing online profitable.

My live game and my online game i find need to be slightly different in certain areas to both be profitable.

Yes, I think we all know that the style of play needs to be different, my live tourneys are at least 30 min clock, where as online it is 15 min clock. Also people cannot be pushed off hands online like they can live.

Its just putting it into practice.

James, out of the £750 for expenses, flights were £50 return, hotel £250. Therefore £450 is profit (less the $54 buy in). Now i know you will say you need to drink and eat, but these things you need to do where ever you are! lol

Oh yeah you can get good profit just from the extra expenses.

How on earth did you get a £50 flight!?!?!?

But by the same token you see about 5 times more hands in an hour online than you do in a live tourney - and you'll be surprised at the number of people who dont realize there is a difference between the two

and like you say - there are some that do but then dont put what they know into practice......

Took a bit of searching, but what made it worse is that AFTER booking it, I saw ryan air doing a similar return flight for £39 (Inc taxes etc..) FFS

Not that I'm tight or anything!!!!!!! lol
