Hello All,

Have been reading the forum for ages, since I read about it on the Camel's blog.  Don't actually play a lot to be honest but enjoy reading and watching etc (about poker before any blonde jokers decide to interject here!).  Only played a couple of my mates now defunct home games and a bit on my mates 'stars account.
Have spent many a hour at work laughing at posts and now I've got my t'internet connection working at home decided it was about time I registered.  Regularly read other sites and forums but felt like this was the only one I could contribute to without getting flamed etc.

So now a couple of questions:
1. Am currently debating whether or not to get myself an account at Pokerstars, is it practical if I don't have broadband?  That may be a huigely stoopid question but I have no idea about computers.

2. Is anyone going to the Keepmobile Charity Tournament in Wokingham on Saturday?

Cheers
Mr F

Welcome Mr F.

1. Yes its practical, though most would prefer broadband due to occasional risks of disconnection on narrowband

2. No idea, but someone on here might, knowing Blonde

Hi Mr F,
Broadband is the way to go; the risk of disconnection is small on narrowband but if it happens you can be sure it will happen when you are holding a monster hand

Saturday should be fun Mel Lofthouse is running it and she is very good

Come over and say hello I will have the cap covered in football badges

I will let you guess the team

Just follow the link these games are great way to spend a saturday afternoon (anything is better than shopping)

Dear Poker People

We are organising a charity Poker tournament on the 22nd October. We are trying to raise money to go towards a minibus for Keep Mobile, a local charity.

Keep Mobile is a voluntary organisation which was established in 1992 and registered as a charity through the Industrial & Provident Society in February 1993. Their mission is to help those in the Wokingham District and Bracknell Forest Borough Council areas unable to use ordinary transport to reach their destination, wherever that may be, and to have as much of an independent life as possible with regard to transport. Through a combination of fund-raising and grants Keep Mobile have a fleet of vehicles capable of transporting those in wheelchairs or who have difficulty in negotiating steps found on other forms of public transport. www.keepmobile.org.uk

We would be very grateful for any donations that we could auction at the freezeout. If you could come along and play at this event you would be more than welcome and that would be fantastic.

The tourney will start at 1pm at Keep Mobile Hall, 171 Evendons Lane, Wokingham, RG41 4EH.

To register for the tournament, details are on www.phatdogs.co.uk

Mel will be Tournament Director and Eugene will be playing.

Any donations can be sent to Phat Dogs c/o Lindsey Golightly, 59 Grovelands Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG30 2PN.

Kind Regards

Lindsey Golightly

Welcome Mr F,

Would just like to agree with other posts in respect of getting broadband for playing online poker on pokerstars. This was the only reason i moved from dial up to broadband as i was sick and tired of losing my connection at crucial times during tournaments. If you are just going to start of by using the play money ring games or play money tournaments then you'll probably be ok, if you start taking it seriously though broadband is a definate must have.
