a huge over-reaction?

has to be right that the drivers aren't punished anyway

But the Ferrari drivers have been punished if Hamilton and Alonso keep their points. If McLaren lose their points then the drivers should as well - it's a team sport.

So McLaren get punished for getting secrets from Ferrari.  What about the person(s) at Ferrari who gave out this information?  Why aren't Ferrari being punished too?

(I don't know any of the details as to what happened, so I might be barking up the wrong tree).

At the minute we don't actually know what McLaren have been found guilty of (simply 'somehow getting this manual' isn't enough for a $100m fine). Hopefully the WMSC will tell us today.

Maybe they've been fined for making cars that go round the track quicker than the Ferraris?

Now we know - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/6994416.stm

Pedro de la Rosa and Fernando Alonso exchanged emails with each other discussing the Ferrari information.

Quote
"All the information from Ferrari is very reliable," De la Rosa wrote to Alonso on 25 March in an exchange about the Ferrari's weight distribution.

"It comes from Nigel Stepney, their former chief mechanic - I don't know what post he holds now.

"He's the same person who told us in Australia that Kimi (Raikkonen) was stopping in lap 18. He's very friendly with Mike Coughlan, our chief designer and he told him that."

Given this, I find it inexplicable that Alonso keep his points.

Though that would kill the championship (the most exciting one in years) stone dead. Viewing figures would drop, interest would fall off, Bernie Ecclestone makes less money...

Alonso should be OUT. He knew, and was involved in the cover up.

Sounds like all Alonso's lot knew, and Hamilton's didn't, yet Hamilton is top of the championship...

i know it's the best championship in years but surely they should be out? Simply , raaikonnen or massa would be champion if mclaren hadn't knicked their designs. fookin disgrace.

Ferrari got caught cheating this season and their punishment was a polite request to not do it again...

the thing is..this isn't not news..this actually is the "new evidence" that came to light and the entire basis of the punishment for MClaren. Alonso is a disgrace in my book and deserves a life-time ban...but he doesn't care about MClarens problems..he'll have a new team next year I'm sure of that.

you reckon based on this McLaren will sneakily sobotage his bid to become champion and try and hand it to Hamiltion?  Hamiltion at 2.2 looks quite juicy at the mo

Hamilton at 2.2 looks very tasty. I wouldn't be surprised if he has BY FAR the best car this weekend from the MClaren guys
