I rang up and cancelled sky a few months ago thinking I would lose sky+ and the chargeable channels but keep the freeview channels.

I was surprised when sky+ still worked but then it turns out they are still charging me £10 a month for sky+. Obv sky+ is the nuts so I just left it like that but from what you guys are saying I shouldn't be paying anything at all?

If you have sky+ and cancel do you get sky+ with freeview for free? Should I ring up and complain or just cancel the direct debit?

You have to subcribe to any sky package, not freeview.
If you want to keep Sky + then subcribe to minimum package (£16 a month) for better value.

The newest offer for new subscribers is apparently £30 as of today,as an existing subscriber it's about £140.There is a £25 extra charge if you have no phone and you have tell sky when it's ordered or the installer wont fit it.

I've played SKY chicken many times, just threaten to cancel, even get them to put you through to the cancellation department,as youv'e been a customer for so long they don't want to lose you.Hold your nerve,i've been given a free SKY+ box,had several free months subscription and had an engineer round for free a couple of times.
disclaimer;if they just cancel you sorry, but i promise you i've done this several times, even done it for my mam and dad.

Like many companies (mobile phone networks i have experience with) sky don't have a disconnections/cancellations team, they are actually customer retention teams.

yep..but they call them Cancellation teams as calling them "Trying to talk your arse into staying with us" team doesn't have quite the same ring to it Smiley

As IFM correctly pointed out - They are actually called the "Customer Retention Team" and are part of the sales outfit!

But they should be called the "Trying to talk your arse into staying with us" team...and all sales people are evil. Smiley

If you do sign up as a new user Tom, I'll recommend you.  Then we'd both get £50 worth of M&S vouchers.  Which could come in handy if you need a sandwich and have no change...

Hi.
The details seem a bit sketchy at the moment I saw it on this forum thread, the poster works for a sky agent and is usually reliable.
These sort of offers are often only available from approved sky agents and not direct from sky.
The location of a local agent should be available from this page, but sods law it seems to be down.

OK. I rang them up and played the cancellation card.

After a lot of pussyfooting around, I got free Sky+ with free installation at my "New" address.

Thanks for all the great advice.

Yours came too late and I didn't sign up as a new customer anyway.

Plus, I don't like you.
