Haha. No problem.

I'm usually insta-sulky about spoilers but not in this case. It's unspoilable.

I'm just glad that I have someone enthusiastic to share it with.

It's almost too emotional to watch at the moment. (Bloke with white glasses).

The footage they just showed of them trying to get Floyd in the car did not help.

Total over-reaction by the Police.

Boo,

You can stick photos up of cars of that era all day long for me, love 'em.

Where did you find them?

Apart from all the obvious things about scrap yards, they are also invariably linked to crime, gangsters & naughty people. The Richardsons had several scrap yards, Mad Frankie Fraser used to look after them. They never had any complaints.

I spent two thirds of my life in scrap-yards and car-breakers yards. (A seemingly pedantic distinction but an important one)

If I was in a car-breakers I was usually buying, mostly engines, gearboxes, starters, dynamo's, alternators. clutch-plates and various other running gear.

If I was in a scrap-yard I was usually selling. Usually stuff that I got when out on the knocker or factory/farm hawking.

So what happened to them if they have gone?  Is a lot of recycling just done on bigger premises?  Don't car breakers still exist?

Yes they do exist but they are strictly licenced. They have to have proper facilities for collecting and disposing of all the waste fluids like oil, petrol, brake fluid etc. Then there's all the plastics and rubber. In my day the fluids soaked into the ground and the plastic and rubber was burned.

Also, all the spares have to be removed by the yard owner and sold to the customer over the counter. No wandering around amongst piles of cars with your tool-box. Imagine the law-suits if you cut yourself or, God-forbid, a car fell on you.

No one is allowed to collect scrap these days without a scrap collectors licence, a waste-carriers licence, and scrap-carriers insurance. What's more, the scrap collectors licence is only good for the area covered by the local authority that issued it.

If you are scrap-collecting for a living you have to work a different area every day.

This new law makes it impossible for Gypsies to make a living by collecting scrap, which was the real reason for introducing it in the first place.
