So I'm just walking along the side of my block of flats on my way home from the shops when I see a flurry of feathers near my downstairs neighbour's bird-feeders. I spotted what I thought was the distinctive fantail of what looked a bit like a raptor.
I got a bit closer whilst fumbling with my 'phone trying to find camera-mode when I spotted this little scene no more than ten feet away:

I took another couple of snaps and walked on a few more paces and saw that the hawk had changed positions slightly.
Before I could get my 'phone organized the sparrowhawk flew off closely followed by what I had assumed was a dead pigeon!
I think that's the first time I've ever been face-to-face with one.
