Gambling - How times have changed?

A photograph by Roger Mayne, taken at Southam Street, London, 1956. Showing young women gambling.
A little over 50 years, so much has changed. Yet the gambling instinct remains the same.
Any ideas as what sort of card game they may have been playing?
