unfortunatley due to the fact it is once again a 2 day event the travellers from the north west and indeed leeds area will not be coming , 14 of us supported the first 500 that dropped to 8 for the next and none of us are travelling today........
pure and simple there is no way we can give up 2 days for this event we are all sat at home with nowhere to play, sad thing is its a fantastic place to visit and i hope they continue to get the numbers, but surely they must consider a larger network of players and make it a one day event .
i cant think of a logical reason why it cant be 1 day , there must be some logistical reason , but the travelling players are also the cash players which only adds to the profitbility of the unit..........
i reallly wish them ever success because the dtd cardroom is unparrelled in every aspect of cardrom enviroment and is the euro number one,,,,,,, i just wish we could go ..........
if you do read this simon could you please offer some rational to this situation, i know we all offered our opinion when you asked for it but it seems to have been largely ignored, this isnt a critisicm ,just a little frustrtion at not being able to play..
this event was perfect for you to try a one dayer with it being mothers day tommorow ..
all the best

Hi Nick
Actually your partly responsible for this.
We have always intended to end up with a mini festival weekend and after your PM last month i thought about a way to have something for all players ie
Those that want to play a 2 day comp , those that want to play a well structured medium entry one day event and a smaller event .
This led to creating the DTD 3 2 1 Weekend Experience , as you point out the travelling players tend to be cash players as well so i asked our bigger cash players what they would like for a £200 one day comp , the answer was the middle leg of the 3 2 1, our £200 PLO Double Chance 5000 + 5000.
Trying to appeal to a larger player pool has obviously been achieved as we have 170 players for the £300 Deepstack up from 129 last month and that is with the effect of Mothers day , Edingburgh GBPT , £500 first event at Vic GUKPT .
The idea was that players like yourself now had a choice , just come and play the £200 PLO which starts at 3.00pm Sunday so you get your one day event which will also attract players that are staying for the weekend as well as PLO players but i also thought that with a shot at a £17,000 first prize as there will be today, you would actually want to play the £300 knowing the cash action will be good and if you dont make it to day 2 you still have the PLO to play.
I guess we can't please everyone but next month we are likely to have 200 players , we already have 8 cash games going with 131 players left in the comp and tomorrow there will be all the PLO players + up to 45 players from today and 60 - 80 players for the £100 as well as are normal 60 - 100 cash game players so again the cash action will be available.
It may take a few months to build the PLO event but we want to offer a regular decent buy in with a great structure and i am confident the DTD 321 Weekend Experience will just get bigger as word spreads.
I hope you guys will come down next month , in fact why not come and supprt our first ever PLO event tomorrow.
With 10,000 chips , a 30 minute clock and our Pot Limit structure it will be terrific to play.

ps;) have you ever asked anybody whether thye prefer 2 day comps, they are only relevant to 7% of your current field..............and i honestly dont know anyone who actually thinks they are nothing more than a pain in the ass, the monthly 300 at walsall started as a 1 day event they had massive fields and you had 20 to 30 players travelling from th north west, they changed it to a 2 day and not many (if any) travel anymore. i asked the question to find out the answer.......... not to be critical in anyway mate
congrats on the field and long may it continue , should be near 200 though

just come and play the £200 PLO which starts at 3.00pm Sunday
Simon,
The DTD website says 3:30pm start, is this correct or is it 3:00pm? - Makes a bit of a difference as I'll probably only be able to arrive about 3:20!
Also, is it not possible to buy in online for the PLO event? I can't see it listed.
Rich.

Nick , i dont really need to ask the question if players would prefer a 1 day comp , the figures speak for themselves , last month 129 , this month 170 , all these players know it is a two day event but it didn't deter them .
However in answer to your question " why not do it in one day " It would not be possible to hold this in one day with the size of fields we are getting unless we were prepared to compromise the clock or structure , our intention is to give players the opportunity to play a festival structured event each month for a reasonable buy in then when we finally hold our first festival they will have the experience to play the bigger events.
Surely if players are willing to travel a 100 miles + to play here once a month they would prefer a weekend of poker rather than a 16 hour 1 day event.
As you know we are not like a casino where you have to wait for dealers to become available for cash games so if you guys only want to play for 1 day you could just come to play cash , we have 2 £2 £5 No Limit games tonight as well as dealers choice and these have been available since we opened.
How often have you known a £300 event to have a 1st prize equivalent to 56 x buy in , surely that is worth playing 2 days for ?
All the best

Hi Rich
The site is correct , it is 3.30pm start and late registration for 1st hour so you will be ok.
Hopefully by next month on line registration will be available for the PLO.
Cheers

you dont need to ask,................ interesting statement, like i said it was not a critiscism, it was a genuine question borne out of frustration .......................you and your teAM HAVE A GREAT CHALLENGE AND YOU are doing really well , dont please take a simple enquiry personally.
although i agree with your answer on comprimising the clock structure etc, but why not start the comp between 2pm / 3pm , you arent a casino , as you so rightly stated so you have more flexibilty.
see you have got me asking more questions than i wanted to because i dont want this to be perceived as anything other than a genuine question and not me being critical, i think the place is fantastic from the time i walk in the front door to the time i leave......
but i think it is a little early to take such a stance saying" you dont need to ask " , i suppose we will still be here attending dtd when the initial novelty of the place settles down so perhaps you may ask then...........
i think i shall close the coment on the subject matter as you have answered the original question, but as Alan ball senior said to AlAN bALL JUNIOR (WHEN HE WAS THE FIRST FOOTY PLAYER TO SIGN A CONTRACT TO WEAR WHITE BOOTS and he asked his dad what he thought) ," make sure you play well every time you play or the punters will give you their opinion , you wont need mine"

I'd second the starting of the competition on a saturday at 2-3ish and I dare say most of the people that have travelled more than 40 miles would too. From a business point of view I reckon most of those that play cash after bust out would probably play up until there natural bedtime anyway, so potentially an extra 6 hours of cash action for you.
Of course this all a logistical issue for you and your staff and we cant keep changing the goalposts, but was this discussed in the previous threads?

I was one of those who drove up 120 miles at top speed (71 mph), was out within 15 minutes and spent 10 hours dawdling on the cash tables until they threw us all out at 6am. I imagine I would be happy to get a hotel if I made Day Two of this good tourney, and just drive down again same day if not. It all seemed excellent - the dealers, tables, lighting, food in restaurant. I just need to get a better car and I'd be there every weekend.
