Boldie and I are off to Cuba in May for a very late honeymoon (exactly a year after the event!) but we aren't sure what form of currency to take with us.

I know that US dollars are a no-no and Scottish currency is not recognised (no suprise there).  I believe you can only buy Cuban pesos over there.

Does anyone know if it's OK to take traveller's cheques or should we take cash (and if so, in what currency?)

Thanks Laxie - I'm still a little confused by the currency system over there but I assume from that English Travellers cheques would be OK if we exchange them at a bank over there...

 thumbs up

Trip advisor is a great site for reviews and has a forum for questions.

Thank you very much Ripple.  Loads of useful and interesting info on there - and a brilliant section on Banks and Money.

Don't forget to make sure the travellers cheques aren't American Express ones!

Yeah!  Anything vaguely American seems to be a no-no.  I don't think Scottish travellers cheques are a good idea either.  Will have to find a Barclays or something before we go........  Not an easy task in deepest darkest West Lothian!
