Nice banner put together by the Green Brigade.

Bandit, is this banner out regularly or just close to the anniversary? or is it a new one?

It's been around for a few years now.  Brought out every year, and if we ever play.

YNWA.

That banner is only a year old, we have had similar banners before that are flown whenever we play Liverpool or near to the Anniverssary.

I'll be hoping to make a trip down for this, anyone up for a beer?

I'd be up for that bandit. Assuming we can get tickets for the game.

It was 4 days after the Hillsborough disaster.  The game was stopped after 6 minutes, the same time the match at Hillsborough was stopped.

Why are Celtic facing Liverpool in a Hillsborough benefit game??? surely it should be between the 2 teams that faced up to each other on the actual day???

There are a number of reasons.  One is that Celtic did a lot at the time to support Liverpool, and there have been strong ties between the clubs.

The second reason is to do with the person in your avatar.  He wrote comments about the Hillsborough disaster that weren't very complimentary about the Liverpool fans.  It was unfortunate, as many of the Forest fans were brilliant and it could have brought the clubs and the fans together.

Also its a rematch between the teams who played each other in a benefit after Hillsborough.  I remember that game at CP it was a very sad experience.

Myself (as a 15 year old), my old man and 2 uncles were stood on the spion kop that fateful day and we saw sights that nobody should have to see. Bodies being given their last rights in the penalty area in front of us, police/fans working frantically on other people and rows of the already deceased. People always seem to forget there was another set of fans who were deeply affected by the tragedy.

Cloughie always spoke his mind whether it was right or wrong (and nobody knows the real answers from that day).
