I'm back.  Before I was able to utter a word, a pint was up on the bar (on the house) and the hand was extended.  Apparently he did a bit of research of his own today and already knew what I was about to say.  On top of that, he'd a proper think about the way he tore into me last night and gave sincere apologies for the lot.  So all is sorted...until the next time.

I  thought you were grounded until BB7..

There have been a number of instances such as this lately, must be something in the air.

yes..people not paying attention. How difficult is it? DO NOT TURN YOUR HAND OVER UNTIL THE DEALER TELLS YOU TO!

Really. The hand shouldn't be declared dead but the punishment at the end of thye hand should be severe.....in Laxie's case she would not be served in that pub for 3 months.

god i hate it when that happens, its almost as annoying as having to tell players umpteen times to turn their cards on their backs or show me a winner

Ok the ruling I would give is both hands are still live. You exposed your hand first so you are not allowed to "generate" any action and you can only call or fold- you will automatically check. Your opponent can still bet on all the streets as he was told to expose his hand after you exposed yours so he was following instructions given to him after your mistake. I would also warn the player to make sure all his chips are clearly visible.

After the hand you would get a one orbit penalty away from the table where your blinds would be posted.

As this is obviously a more friendly type game I would declare both hands live no betting to be made by either party and make you both take a downinone penalty (either tequila or vodka).

your hand is never declared dead under any of the commonly used sets of rules (TDA, wsop, WPT etc) but in most sets of rules you would either get a time penalty or a one/two orbit penalty.

Ooooooooh, a downinone penalty sounds good!  Will have to suggest that one to the owner the next night.  Cheers!
