For the first time tonight i lost my temper at the poker table in a live game. I won't go too much in to the situation as it will sound like a bad beat story. Yet i uttered the dreaded "how could you f**goldstar call with that". It basically left me down to felt and even tho i dragged myself back into shape, ironically losing a 70/30 shot against the same opponent which i accepted gracefully (the way i should behaved in the first place).

My question to fellow blondites as we seem quite a good natured bunch is have you ever lost your temper properly at the table and if so how have you stopped doing it again (if you have) . This is not how i want to conduct myself at the table.

Cheers a slightly ashamed trash talker.

In Any situation when I lose I stand up say nice hand or well played and quitely drift off.
More well played if they were very lucky. I never loose my Temper. However I do cry in the
car on the way home. But Hey thats Poker. As long as you show class at the table.

bad beat or not I'd be interested in hearing about the hand, especially as this sounds so out of character. I assume this was in last nights beginners game at Notts Gala. talking of which;
7.30 comp reg was 6.30 - 7.15 and always full at 6.40
last night I arrived at 6.30  to find registraition had started at 5.50 (posters changed to say reg from 6pm) and was full about 6.15
wasted journey that was.

I have lost it a few times in my youth with players insulting me and my parentage. Not big not clever, I wouldn't play that kind of game anymore.

Ok adam as you insist. By the way it wasn't a full in your face rant more a mutter to myself but still not on really and i was proper steaming for about 15 mins. Im utg +1 and the utg is a tight solid player with about 2500 in chips open raises for 900 (blinds 150/300).

I look down  (not sure about suits) and push all in for about 4.5k. Im hoping to isolate the utg and i know my table image is such that im unlikely to called behind by anything but a monster. Apart from the chap new to then table next me who goes in for about 800. Then matey boy dwells for a bit (he is very aggressive in style regular) dwells for about 30 secs and announces all in for about 4k. I think im in trouble here as surely he can only call with a premium hand. Utg calls as well which automatic with the pot so big.

Utg shows    fair enough pretty much what i expected
I show my ladies.
Shortstack  ok bit of wing and prayer but understandable.
Matey boy

Now i personally think the call is awful to compound things, which started me he says to me, i knew you had a big pair and there was value. Both of these statements are illogical together imo which started me off basically. As you can all guess by now flop came  and no help afterwards.

I actually rebulit through a few all ins (all of which i was fave in) when we were down to 40 i pushed all in shortstacked with  to be called  by matey boy and lost to a river  .

Not a great night all in all, i did shake his hand after been knocked out and apologised for my outburst earlier, as Adam says not typical of me. Something just went in my head last night and i turned into some yank on the wpt for 5 mins. Not good at all.

Registration has been open from 6pm for about the last 2 months. This is not something that has happened recently.

Sorry if you did not know this.

I always try to keep the Gala International Nottingham Information Thread in the Live Poker section as up to date as possible. This also states that Registration is between 6 and 7.15pm. New information or any changes will always appear on this thread first.

I don't remember an announcement and I do listen. Has it been running 2 months yet?
I've only missed one since it started too. many of us have been after earlier starting tourneys for a while and 7:30 is great but having to register 1 1/2 hours before the comp starts is crazy. unless you work in Nottingham and go straight there from work how can 6pm be reasonable. (saying that 121 people managed it before me). It make Tuesdays a complete non starter for me. what details have been settled on for Wednesdays (Ian mentioned something was coming soon)

Online is a great place to pratice live poker. Quite lucrative too.
When playing in the comfort of my own home I used to shout expletives at times of frustration and whoops of joy when raking in a decent sized or important pot. Both these constitute conduct unbecoming of a gentleman in live poker.

Recently I have practiced showing no emotion to my computer in order to better train myself to keep it all inside playing real poker.

Stands to reason, if you shout at the p.c. every day you'll be more likely to lose control in a card room.

Thing is Adam, even if they opened it at 6:30 there would just be 121 people in the queue in front of you. (edit: who had been queueing since 6 if you get me).

It means I can't really play in tuesdays either - it's a mad rush to get there for 6:15, and last time I did that there were 4 places left when I signed up!

Aren't weds now ladies only tournies?

Adam see the edit to my post above.

While i always announce important changes at the start of competitions, I am reasonably sure that some of my colleagues are not so thorough.

The competition has been running for 16 weeks now and the last 12 have all sold out early.

Two weeks ago I believe that at 6pm a queue had formed which was 120 people long.

I am trying to get another table sorted for sometime in the near future.

As for Wednesday, there will be a Wednesday night Poker competition during December same start time as Tuesday. Details have not been released yet but as soon as they are they will be posted on the Information thread.

if registration will be 6pm for that I'll sadly not be playing that either. I just cant get sto Notts for 6pm. stuck with Sundays only then.

As for updating your thread, why would I check registration times hadn't changed. In my mind it was 6.30 - 7.15 and I was always there at 6.30, by which time I was grabbing one of the last 20 / 30 seats. I'm glad the nights a success and I guess as it's first come first served I'm stuck with it.

and early clues as to whether Wednesdays is likely to be a freeze or rebuy?

The Wednesday Competition in December will Be a £20 NLHE with a maximum of 1 Re-buy so it nearly classes as both. (Same maximum spend as Tuesday) Registration and start times will be the same as Tuesday.

I worry a little that most people are the same with the information thread... i spend a lot of time ensuring that it is kept as up to date as possible. It is the best that I can do short of PM ing everyone. I do not add new posts, I simply edit the existing ones.

The whole schedule for December will be on there shortly but as a sneak preview i can tell you that Thursday and Friday comps will be starting earlier than usual and for at least 3 weeks, they will both be playable as an entry only freeze-out. Thursday NL & Friday PL.

As for Tuesday... Registration has to start at 6pm to prevent the large queue from blocking the casino entrance. One more table is in the pipeline increasing the max players to 132. I was shocked by the overwhelming success of this competition after all it was originally started as a 50 player max comp. How quickly things have to adapt to demand eh?

I lost my temper for the first time at the Gutshot last week. In £30 rebuy, not doing particularly well and am on the button. Folded round to me, and with my miserable amount of chips left (and blinds getting high) I go all in with

Small blind folds, big blind calls my raise (which was big to him)

He turns over    and needless to say catches a five on the flop and I don't improve.

Fine, I am walking away gracefully when he stands up and shouts to the whole room - this is why nobody should ever raise my blind in such an arrogant manner that I felt like raising his nose to the top of his head.

I had a "quiet" word with him and moved on to a cash table to earn all my money back.

What's the point in gloating to rest of room when you get lucky and knock someone out?
