Gold- True story of the ups and downs of a gold rush in Indonesia, is a true story apparently, pretty unbelievable if it is. Nice to see Matthew McConaughy do something other than look pretty on screen. Great watch, solid 8/10.

Flounced out of this one. Had been looking forward to it after the trailers, but thought it was awful.

Lion incred though.

The Founder - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4276820/

Michael Keaton plays a milkshake salesman, who was behind McDonalds becoming what it is today.

Enjoyable watch, and quite interesting to see how it all came about.

Patriots Day- story of the Boston bombings and hunting down the bombers afterwards. Honestly a bit boring I did well to see it out 4/10.

Made by the same bunch that did Deepwater Six. That was pretty tedious too. Avoid this kind of 'reconstruction of real events' rubbish at all costs. Had thought better of Wahlberg, but there you go.

Hacksaw Ridge

I guess most Blondes know that it's the true story of a conscientious objector who volunteered to be a medic but not to bear arms in WWII. You might challenge the choice of lead actor, until you meet the real man at the end of the film. You'll certainly struggle to fully understand our hero's stance, even after seeing the event he attributes it to. But there's no doubt that there are a number of moving, emotionally charged, lip-trembling, eye-watering scenes; and that the battle sequences are hard-hitting and graphic (although I still feel that Spielberg retains the edge for realism in Private Ryan - I know, htfdik?!) The portrayal of his astounding acts of bravery are mind-numbing, but there's always the Hollywood temptation to tug our heartstrings just that little bit more, which sadly (imo) only lessens the overall impact of the film.

Overall, it's a 7½ out of 10 from me. 9/10 for the battle sequences.

i thought it was a masterpiece

straight towards the top end of war films alongside stuff like thin red line

a violent and visceral anti-war pacifist war film with plenty of complex themes

one of the best films i have seen for ages

Andrew Garfield is really good in it

Actually agree with both of you, much better than 4KSuited suggests but his criticisms are fair.

8.5/10 if you have read up about the movie and half know what to expect but I assume 10/10 if you went in blind and not even realising it's a true story.

Amazing to me it took so long for this guy's life to be made into a film.

This, great film.

Did we ever find out what happened to his brother?

Saw Hacksaw Ridge on Friday night for the first time. Blown away by it, so good. How Andrew Garfield hasn't won awards for this is beyond me.

Logan

Great film, not quite the usual X-Men format but plenty of action and not a bad story

Moonlight won best picture at the oscars so expectations were high. The directing, acting and cinematography are all of fine quality but there isn't really any depth to the story so it left me feeling a little unfulfilled. Can't help thinking an entirety black cast and homosexuality were the clinchers for the award.
