I have a 22" monitor attached to my lappy and when my lappy battery is charging the monitor flickers. Its like it cant take the power surge of something because the screen is plugged into the mains aswell as the laptop which then connets to the monitor. When the lappy is not charging everything works well but the battery on my lappy only last about 30 mins before i have to plug it back into the mains. Any ideas because it really fooks me off. Cheers

the machines are generally good, but there is a design fault on the vga out port. You can get round it by using battery (obviously not an option) or using the DVI port if your monitor has one.
alternatively you can mess about with the power options in control panel and choosing a power scheme that maximises battery life.
if you tell me what model number your laptop is, I can get you a price on a replacement battery.

Have a question and figured I'd just ask it here besides posting a new thread. I've an old Dell. Well, not ancient, but not new. Anyway, I was told to upgrade the memory on it and was directed to this site: http://www.crucial.com/eu/store/listparts.aspx?model=Dimension+4500+Series#It's half the price of Dell's 'own brand' memory and I wondered if it was too good to be true? Anyone dealt with them before or know anything about this before I go to the check out with it?

Agreed, I have been using them recently for buying Server Ram for a bunch of Dell Servers and its way cheaper than buying from Dell. Not had any problems so far....

I've got a stupid question that is unrelated, but doesn't warrant a thread of it's own coz it's daft.
On Windows XP, I clicked the bottom left corner and had a "Run" option. Where do I find this with Vista plz?

Click start. In the 'search' box type run. The run dialog will appear.

Or, right click on the Start button, and click Properties. From the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog, click Customize. Scroll down through the list until you find Run command. Check the box next to it and it will then be in the Start menu
