Me too so to get back to the original topic....I am middle top. Photo is me and my sisters and brother at our first Christmas party

Pics like that are priceless Suzanne.

Is that an orange you're eating?

I was an ice cream shell, I was about 6 years old and remember it so well as I had never had one before.

My Dad was a member of the Buffs Club...no idea what that means but I think it was a mini Masons. I remember noticing that Santa had brown shoes and thought it a bit odd...I spotted a guy with the same shoes and sussed out  that day that Santa did exist :-(

Ooh - ice-cream shells! They were the business when they first came out.

The little boy at the front 2nd from the left is Mrs Red's dad.

Who is the "elder" standing up? Is that a cat on the trailer?

We suspect it to be her grandfather, but we're not sure.

It wouldn't be a cat. Cats like their home to stay in one place, they don't make good pets for Gypsies.

BTW- That's a waggon, not a trailer.

That a "Roma" Caravan by any chance?

What do you mean the girls haven't changed? What about me?

Oh yes!

I only went to Butlins once, but what an eye-opener.

Meals - three a day - were seved in "sittings", two Sittings each. When a particular song came over the PA, it was your turn to eat.

The Dining Hall was a huge place, seated 1,000 or more, & there were sparrows & pigoens flying all around it.

Buffets & self-service were unheard of, & the Waitresses served all the Meals in one "go", hundreds of them all rushing out from the kitchen with several plates of food porecariously balanced on their arms.

When a plate got dropped, as it often did, everyone cheered. We sure knew how to get out of line in those days......

I saw this old picture of Hinckley. It fascinated me so much. The shops, the car, the little girl on the pavement, (Strange to think that by the time I saw this pic, she had lived her life.

I went out and tried to take a modern picture of the same view, (not as easy as it looks)
