i don't understand how you can move all in and not hold your cards!!!
Do you just sit back and leave them lying around on the table?
i leave them on the table in front of me?
i dont use protectors?
there was a line on the table?
lol
I dont know what else to do except cradle them like a baby humming ancient ritual chants, whilst doing the moonwalk
Just hold them in your hand, its not that hard!!
You cheated imo given you know the correct rule yourself, hope it was worth it!

Your hand is dead and the last remaining player in the hand takes the pot.
There's never a situation where you -can't- protect your hand, in my opinion. That you forget/fail to do so is your own fault. Not going to comment on the rest because I don't agree with bad sportsmanship, particularly when you already said that you know it to be the correct ruling and tried to put added pressure on the TD by coming out with refusing to leave and phoning the police over a mistake that is yours.
Are you a traffic warden?

of course
im joking
no offence intended
So there should be absolutely no bending of the rules,no common sense applied..
just asking,or will this invite the stroke merchants?
i have read here before that in big games hands are declared dead etc for infringements of a similar nature

Common sense would be to hold your cards!

The correct ruling is that your hand is dead, however given
a) that the dealer is the other player
b) you are all in
c) there is no further action
d) and you can name your exact two cards before seeing the dealers card
e) you named q7 suited?
f) its a cash game
I think in the fairness of the game your cards should be recovered and the hand played out.

I don't understand how anyone can think that the dealer has made a mistake.
It is the player's responsibility to protect their hand at all times.
Surely if cards are behind the line that should be protection enough.
location of your cards in relation to a betting line is irrelevant

This rule is from Gala's 30 year old handbook.
I think it was created to avoid confrontation rather than address the interests of the game.
It's probably been changed by now but Gala are shit at communication, especially when it comes to poker.
If you don't use a protector or hold on to your cards then they will occasionally get scooped, especially if you are sat next to the dealer. It just happens sometimes.

Why did you let the dealer take your cards?

Not gonna comment on the ruling but if it is strictly enforced, couldnt it leave an opening for a player who is dealing to call and all in from seats 1 and 10 and "accidentally" muck the cards deom the all in person and scoop the pot without showdown?
The rule in general is a bit of a joke in Glasgow, in a different casino Ive seen seat 1 go all in and accidentally have his cards mucked by the dealer, reach into the muck to pull his cards out and pick up 2 cards that werent his then tell the TD what his cards were and get the cards back (to be fair he picked out pocket
so he was probs telling the truth...went on to flop a set though.)
And then in a 3rd casino I heard it was the FT bubble, on 1 table the short stack went all in blind and was called by the dealer who mucked the all in mans cards. Since he couldnt tell the TD his cards as he was all in blind the TD had to go around everyone else on the table and take their cards out of the muck and give the all in man the 2 unclaimed cards lol
