nothing livens up a night out like Mayhew and wednesday night was no exception. here's a quick rundown of his activities.

the first thing you do when with him is think of things that he'll do for a tenner.

myself and Claw figured it'd be good to get him to throw stuff at players. we drew up a list of 17 players, assigned each one a number and let Ben randomly pick his target. the deal was he had to hit the target above the waist with an item of his choice.

this may not be 100% accurate but from memory the list was something like- Greenstein, Boatman R, Boatman B, Ironstein, Trumper, Devilfish, Brunson D, Devilfish, Obrestad, Black, Colclough, Ivey, Lederer, Hansen, Jesus, Gibson, Negreanu

some were easier than others, Devilfish was sat with his back to the rail and an easy target, Doyle Brunson was 5 metres inside the rail and sideways on while Lederer and Ivey were on the horse final table and very difficult to get without being assaulted by security guards. the random draw chose Barry Greenstein as the target, Ben (wimpishly imo) chose a match as his weapon.

Barry Greenstein was sat on the starting table next to Ironstein along with Surindar, both Boatmans and Doyle. He was about 3 metres from where we were allowed to stand with his back to the rail so luckily for Ben and unfortunately for the rest of us was an easy target.

His first shot bounced off the chair next to Barry but attempt no. 2 landed on his back just above the waistband as he leaned forward over the table. £10 shipped.

The £1k bet offered by Dubai for emptying a drink over a random player was never taken

During the wsope the HU machines in the casino are free to play so Ben took on the challenge against random mateyboy from the bar for a small stake. Having lost that one he’s stood chatting to his oppo in the bar when the HORSE final starts a break and mateyboy’s friend comes up for a chat. Yes, Mayhew has been scammed by Phil Ivey’s best mate.

Because of the difficulty of getting outside from the cardroom for a smoke if you’re in a wheelchair Ironstein was given access to the pressroom which was in the casino’s private bar with a balcony overlooking Leicester Square. We all went up there with him and Ben liked it so much that in the lift back down he announced to us all how he was going to go home and forge some press passes so he could go up there again.

Who was the only person in the lift that we didn’t know? The Betfair rep responsible for running the pressroom of course.

The next time I saw Ben that night he was coinflipping with Phil Ivey and of course losing. He did however manage to win a double or quits flip and so just about managed to get away without going busto

and finally a photo for you all.

Doyle had obviously heard all about the Mayhew and whilst pretending to pose for a picture was in fact making the universal sign for, well you can see for yourselves what he's calling Ben.
