Pretty decent for a first cooking attempt I must say although I'd love to see the out-takes.

-1 for enevenly cooked sausages.
-1 for calling potato pancakes hash-browns which are totally different altogether.
-1 for no fried bread.
-1 for coffee instead of tea which cuts through the grease of a fry-up aiding digestion.

6/10

Again with the sausages. Tips please people and I'll get it right next time.

It said hash brown on the packet. Blame McCain.

Fried bread's on a separate plate. Can I have this point back please.

Coffee / tea. FFS!! How do I get around this?

Sausages are high maintenance. They need constant turning (90 seconds on one side, 90 seconds the next, then a quarter turn etc) in the pan to ensure an even consistency of cooking and, aesthetically most important, colour

You're always going to get a stripe though surely?

Should I buy a spit?

Solid effort, beans do look cold, the sausage is undercooked and looks like you have had a bit of a disagreement  with the black pudding.

Felt like something was missing then realised you have put fried bread on it's own plate?? which universe does that happen?

anyway good first effort

6.5/10

Do you want steam coming off the beans?

I never quite know what to do about sausages to be honest. It's such a fine line between undercooked and burning them to death.

I assure you they were well cooked (may have been pre cooked in the oven   ) but it's how they look to the scorers that matters.

Tried to get the fried bread on the plate. It was always the plan but it just wouldn't fit. Bigger plate next time without doubt.

Didn't really know what to do with the black pudding. I won't be disagreeing with it again that's for sure. Tasted ok but would've preferred to keep the space for an extra sausage.

Thanks for the vote mate. 6.5 from Eck's pretty damn good.

Beans? no steam just not congealed, sausages? try turning them...

Def need a bigger plate, you could always lose the hash browns too no need for them and especially after it looks like you overdid it and tried to hide the burnt side.

Will def be taking up the option of kipping at your's next time i'm down. Couple of helpful tips and you could be well on your way to a decent fry up.

Early indications would suggest that hash browns / potato things or whatever they are could just be removed.

I've had minus points for over cooking them, under cooking them and having them there at all. Definitely need to get rid for next time.

I wasn't bothered about them anyway really so I seem to have wasted a couple of quid trying to please people. Maybe those people will be on their way soon.

I'm going to practice sausages. I cook them a lot but they're always for sandwiches so it's much easier to get right as you can just slice them in half down the middle to cook the inside.

I should've researched this more really. I was worried about the sausages being undercooked so I just whacked them in the oven for 15 mins before to make sure they wouldn't kill me. They were only 5 minutes in the frying pan.

Also I think I'm going to buy some lard next time. Pretty sure that'll help.

The best  way to cook hash browns is in a deep fat fryer, most of us probably don't have one at home anyway. The sausages just need turning regularly, the problem you have is the higher quality sausages tend to curl up a it when fying, that makes it harder so get an even cook as they won't sit in the position that you want in the pan.

I'll give you the point back for the fried bread but I'll have to deduct half a point in that case for the under-sized plate so the revised mark is 6.5/10.

But I must deduct half a point for arguing the tea versus coffee point. Tea is served with Chinese food which is mostly fried for that very same reason, to cut through the grease.

Re-re-revised score 6/10.

No napkins?

No tablecloth?

Disappointed in you Matt, never relished you were so common.

Is it ok that I am considering deducting a point for having such an alarmingly clean and tidy kitchen?

I'll be doing this again very soon. I'm nothing if not determined and it's nice to have an excuse to use my kitchen.

Notes for next time:

Smaller, straighter sausages. Should be easier to manage in the pan.

Tea instead of coffee. To gain 1.5 points off Ralph. Risks deductions off others.

Remove hash browns. Clear rookie error.

Fried bread on to main plate. Different bread for toasting, it was rank toasted but lovely for the fried bread and plain bread and butter.

Use Heinz beans instead of Branstons. Not as thick so shouldn't look as cold apparently.

Cook everything in lard and make sure Eck sees it in a picture.

Get rid of the black pudding. Tried it once. Didn't like. Ronnie seemed to enjoy the leftover bit though. Only put it on for Eck and he f**king slated it anyway!!

Bacon - Check.

Eggs - Check.

Mushrooms. I was proud of these but they haven't received any love. Thought they looked lovely myself and they tasted great so they'll stay.

What kind of fuckery is this?

Coffee is a perfectly acceptable beverage option with breakfast if say you're having croissants.

I think the eggs and bacon both look superb. Personally I think the bean portion size is rather miserly and the lack of a tomato doesn't sit quite right with me. The stripey sausage has already been mentioned but they also look massive and rather cumberlandish. I think the size distribution of each element needs work. That said the finished article looks rather appertising and a solid effort for me. I would score this a 6.5.

I got some friends round for fry-up tomorrow so will take photos.
